Wow, now that's something I've never thought to look out for.

    What's next, trebuchet bombardment?
Don't take anything I say seriously.

    Run away!

Post's headline seems to be wrong. There was no cannonball, just an explosion of wadding soaked with something flammable.

Kind of sounds like a deliberate attack, though. Cannon placed near trail, pull-rope leading away to tent where perps are hiding, cyclist rides by and they blast him when he's 2 feet from the cannon. Everybody's lucky they didn't kill the guy. Jerks.

    Um....no....

... was injured by a small cannonball ...
Authorities say the cannonball was similar to what is used at high school and college games...
gauze-like wadding soaked in an unknown chemical caused an explosion
Wadding causes explosion, shoots cannonball, cannonball and/or other debris hits cyclist as shrapnel and embeds in legs and arms. Resulting in much pain and probable infection.

Has literacy really gone that far down the tubes?

    Still quite literate, thank you.

    From Durango Herald News

No projectile came out; rather white, gauze-like wadding soaked in an unknown chemical caused the explosion. Particulate from the blast lodged in Altman's legs and arms.
It sounds as if the "particulate" was likely bits of the wadding itself.

    In any event, nasty wounds.

The literacy issue may be with the Denver Post writer, who seems confused about what a "cannonball" is.

Does anybody think the cannons used to celebrate touchdowns at High School football games fire cannonballs? It would be an interesting way to take out the other team's star player.

Sheesh! What will these idiots think up next? After following the “Does anyone arm themselves while riding” thread I though I could get by with an Uzi mounted on the handlebars. Now I’ll have to upgrade to an anti-cannonball missile defense system!

They thought it was a cannon blast but it was really me riding by at supersonic speed. My vacuum created such a suction that shrapnel injured another cyclist.

See...that's what I thought all along.
Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them you'll be a mile away & you'll have their shoes.
