Hi my names jeremy and im new to cycling and to posting in this forum lol. So i am just looking into getting a new road bike being my trek pilot 1.2 was stolen last weekend.... ive been looking at the felt f95 (orange) it comes with microshift 9 speed shifters a double ring crank sora front derailur and tiagra rear derailur. carbon fork u know the normal entry level components i just can not seem to find many reviews on the bike by users that own one. basically what im getting at is that i want to know if anyone has any good or bad feedback on the bike or if there are any better deals in the 750$-900$ price rang which is my absolute limit at the moment being that i go to school and do not have a ton of money.
thankyou for any feedback -jeremy
My wife has a Felt F85, which I think was a 2009 model and she likes it. I've been quite impressed with the components on it and the relative comfort considering the aluminum frame. If you can find one, look for a 2009 or 2008 model that has Shimano 105 or better components and a 10-speed drive train. There are probably some around but they might be hard to find.
Have you actually ridden the F95? If it fits, you like how it rides and you can afford it, why not? There isn't anything horribly wrong with the components except the 9-speed cassette is pretty dated for a road bike.
BUT, if you're in college and plan to use this as your primary means of transportation, you should seriously consider getting a used bike because the odds are not very good that this one won't also be stolen.
thank you for your advice. ive been up in the air about making the jump up to the f85 being its only a few hundred dollars and over time itll be worth the extra money for the better components. i went back down to the lbs today and test rode the bike again and it fit perfect and shifted surprisingly smooth for low end derailers. i was also wondering if you think it might be worth it to buy the f95 for the frame and upgrade the components as i can afford it... as for using the bike around campus i bought a really great lock that i use for my trek 6500 mountain bike and will def start using it for the road bike as well being as they are a hot ticket item apparently. thank you again for your advice and ill keep ya posted on what i finally decide to buy
Sorry to inform you that there isn't a lock made that can't be defeated by someone determined or else they will ruin your bike trying. Buying a brand new bike for on campus use and being forced to leave it outside at night is just asking for it to be stolen or stripped.
no no i dont live on the campus i jus bring the bike there during the day t get around i have crappy bikes i can use as well im really buying this bike to get more into cycleing and i need a quality bike my last bike was in front of my house unlocked and got swiped pretty stupid on my part but i mean 800$ isnt the end of the world but it does suck ass lol. but i dont want a second hand bike too many possible issues and hard to find a good fit. but im gona keep looking around for an entry level bike although im prob gona go w the f95 and jus upgrade the components over time cause like you said your wike has the f85 the frame must be good enough to add onto
