Completed first "real" century today. Typical Alberta fall weather, started partly cloudy, then cold rain, then wind. Crazy gusts, really sucked the moral out of me. I gotta find a riding partner to break the wind for me! Finished 164 km in 5:56. Feel kinda dizzy now and my legs are a pretty sore. Probably wont be doing that again until next spring.
Congrats.... I've completed 3 100K rides this year (only riding for 5 months) but the time and strength needed for a 100 miler looks like will have to wait for me till next year. I'm glad you got yours in this year. It's definitely not easy doing it alone. Congrats again.
Thanks for the kudos. This was my goal for this season and I think I got it in just in time, snow already on the ground not too far north. Looks like a few more spins before the bike goes on the trainer. On a happy note, I was fit for a new 2012 cannondale superSix with force and rival components this morning. I pick it up Friday! Think I'll try my hand at some cat 5 racing next year if my schedule permits.
It's on mapmyride under nigel 91 sandringham - helensville
Not as fast as yours but similar in that I had some big head winds!
Hard work, the climbs were the most enjoyable part, the long flats were soul destroying, I took to yelling at the wind at one point - not sure if that helped or not!
One dodgy moment with a truck & trailer going past where I nearly ended up in the ditch but otherwise the traffic was well behaved!
