    Garmin edge 500 mounting problem

Suddenly my garmin can't attached properly to the garmin mount. It turns freely like if the bottom part of the garmin which swing on the mount and get attached by 90 degrees spin, turns without locking.
    Anyone had this experience?

Is the tab on the mount broken? What about the back of the Garmin itself?

If it's the mount, you can get a new one for a few bucks. Or, better yet, upgrade to K-Edge or Bar Fly. I prefer the metal K-Edge personally.

    K-Edge

    Bar Fly

yep, +1, sounds like you may have broken the tab(s) off the back of the 500

If it's the tab(s) on the back of the computer, you'll need to send it back to Garmin to have that piece replaced. Though, if that's the case I'd buy a K-Edge or BarFly and just epoxy it right onto the mount and then simply remove the mount when I needed to charge the unit.

If I am not wrong I thought I saw a replacement back mount that is available from somewhere ... I know this is not helping you much, but I thought I saw pictures of it on one of the threads here.

Have you got pictures of it?

Looks like both of your mounting tabs have broken off of the back of the computer.

Yep, but it will cost you and you'll be out the 500 for a while. Best to contact Garmin and get the process going asap.

My tabs broke as pictured, and I was able to retrieve the tabs. I ended up super-gluing the tabs back onto the computer, and very, very carefully attached the computer to my K-Edge mount. As was suggested by a previous post, I just detached the K-Edge mounting arm from the clamp when I had to remove the computer. I'll admit, it was a bit of a pain, but held securely.

Beyond that, it gave me added motivation to replace my Garmin Edge 500 with an Edge 510.

Maybe this is why the 510 comes with a lanyard...

    Garmin edge 500 mounting problem

I spoke with Garmin Support, a long process but they are replacing my device under complete warranty even though I was out of warranty. Good service!
