Has anybody has been using the Gore Xenon windstopper Jersey (not the jacket)?
I'm looking for a 3 seasons jersey that's breathable and warm enough to be worn in various configurations from the mid 60's down to the upper 30's.
I'll be using it for high 3+ hour rides with climbs and descents, want something that's not too heavy, doesn't get wet quick, dries fast, and offers wind protection. This one seems to fit the bill, at least on paper, but it's pretty darn expensive for a jersey.
Any thoughts and suggestions will be appreciated.
Doesnt stop as much wind as you would expect. You could wear this down to the mid 40s with 2-3 thick layers under it. But if you are cruising along at 20-22 you are going to feel windchill in the armpit area. On its own its really just an over 55 degree jersey.

Thanks for replying, I want to avoid wearing more than 2 layers unless it's below freezing, have you tried the Gore Phantom or the Vapor by any chance?
Have a look at Nalini Quarzo. Though descending in upper 30s will likely make you chilly in it.
30 degrees of coverage (35-65) suitable for sustained climbs and descends is a lot to request from a set of clothes unless you're willing to remove pieces and put them back before long descents.

Thanks for replying. Actually I'm not looking at that kind of coverage during the same ride, more for the same jersey that I can use with or without a first layer (sleevless, short sleeves, long sleeves, thermal l/s) from late fall to early spring, (more like 40-60 than what I had written first).
The Nalini looks interesting, do you have one, do you know if it has a fleeced inner (which I don't want)?
The Pearl Izumi Vector jacket/jersey might be a good option to consider. With proper base layers, it is warm for me down into the 30s. The front, shoulder and sleeves are made from wind-stopping and water-resistant AmFib fabric. Back and sides are more breathable.
Another option is to simply pair a vest with a warm jersey such as PI Kodiak Light or similar models. Base layers also make a big difference.

Nalini has quite a few jackets in their Base line, and even more in Pro line.
In Base line:
Quarzo is unlined, front and arms are from Mantovent (MOA's version of a wicking windstopper), and the back is from a thin fleece.
Cornalina is the same as Quarzo but with detachable arms.
Pirite is made from Mantovent completely.
German sites have the best selection and prices, though often an ungodly shipping charge or a return and exchange policy that is too restrictive. Just hope that you ordered the right size.
Ebay has some italian shops with reasonable prices.
Prices in the US online shops are twice or more higher than in Europe.
Info on the Nalini stuff is hard to find and their page doesn't help much, so it's been much appreciated. The Cornalina looks like a versatile piece of clothing and it's decently priced, I also came across the Mirto jersey from their pro line, which looks in the same class as the xenon, unfortunately it's priced just like that.
