Help me select a paint job!

    Hello,

I'm close to pulling the trigger on a new Madone and can't decide which paint job to get. One of the new team paint job, which I actually think looks really nice. The other is one of the schemes called "Lead Out", based off the previous Radio Shack bike. Which of these do you prefer?

I prefer the new Leopard team colours, but would rather not have a bike with RadioShack and Nissan logos on it... That said, if it were last year's Leopard Madone I would take it in a heartbeat.

I much prefer the black to last year's kind of feminine scheme, but half of my dilemma is that I have no idea what the 'lead out' scheme looks like at different angles. If anyone has photos of that paint job from other than a side view, please let me know!

I like the team paint job, but I don't want to feel like a tool in two years when I'm still rockin' the team colors...

Also, does the matte finish wear in any unusual way?

    I love these threads

It always amuses and mystifies me that anybody would seek the advice of a bunch of strangers on the internet in making a decision about aesthetics. Seems to me the issue is what YOU like.

As for the fear of being thought dated in two years if you pick a team design, I really don't think anybody notices, and who cares, anyway. I sometimes wear my "zed" jersey (the one Greg Lemond wore 20 years ago). I have no idea what anybody thinks of that.

If you shoot the damn thing, it won't matter what colour you paint it. Shrapnel is shrapnel.

#1. I'm not really into "team" bikes unless, of course, they're being ridden by the team.

I like #2 better. Too much white on #1 for me.

I like the esthetics of 2 but the Radio Schlock logo is a show stopper for me.

When you're buying a reasonably decent Madone, surely your budget covers getting a bike with a paintjob you absolutely adore?

I would not go for either, have you checked out the Project 1 options? I have an 07' madone with a matte black/black cherry paint scheme that I really like. when sunlight hits the translucent cherry it is a thing of beauty....I say go for something original.

...or as original as the paint options available allow for!

I like bike two, but the Radio Shack and Nissan advertisements turn me off. I don't like the color scheme of number one either. I either do the Project 1 option or look into a Specialized and see what colors they doing this year.

Unfortunately these are the only two project one options I like. There aren't that many good options for paint combinations in my opinion, and I don't like the roleur or any flame paint jobs. If there were more options for dark gray/smoke colors or matte finishes I could make something else interesting but the options seem to have been trimmed down since project one began. I think the backlog was maybe getting to be a little ridiculous so it was reigned in, but that's just a guess.

It would maybe be an easy choice if I could not do the RadioShack and Nissan logos, but oh well.

    #1 by about 10 miles.
Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them you'll be a mile away & you'll have their shoes.

I prefer no sponsor logos from companies that aren't sponsoring me or my club, otherwise I'd be evenly split on those two, nice either way... Enjoy the ride!
