I have a 20 mile commute.
The AM ride in sucked - it had just stopped raining earlier in the morning, the roads were still wet. It was cold and raw. I kept getting squeezed by traffic, I wasn't feeling great, etc.
During the ride home last night, however, everything was clicking. By 5:30 the weather had cleared up, the sun was playing peekaboo, and it was still cool enough to be comfortable. There are a few big climbs to get up and over on my route, but I was feeling strong enough that I never needed to back off to conserve energy. I wasn't giving an inch to cars. Except for a couple times when I "gifted" a pass to trucks that were unable to squeeze by.
At one point I shocked myself by drafting one truck from a standing start at a traffic light up to 30 MPH on a flat road. I still think maybe my computer was lying to me.
Other riders waving. Even got a thumbs up from a driver!
Felt like a hero. Just wanted to tell somebody.
