Trek Valencia vs. Cannondale Bad Boy
Hi All. My brother is looking at a nice urban/commuter bike and likes the following
(2) bikes the best:
Cannondale Bay Boy
I've had Trek bikes in the past with no issues, but know zippo about Cannondale.
Both bikes are arounf the same price with the Trek being about $100 more.
Any help would be great.
For commuting related topics, you'd get more answers in Commuting, Touring & Ride Reports.
I'm not sure exactly which spec Bad Boy you're looking at, but both brands are reputable and make great bikes. I'd personally go with a Bad Boy, but there isn't much between them. Both bikes are designed as tough city commuters.
As with any bike choice, go for the bike with the best fit and most comfort.
second star to the right
I have a trek su200, the precursor to the Valencia. I have over 3800 miles on it, and like it. several things to point out. 1. I broke a few drive side spokes on the rear wheel and ended up having the wheel replaced by Trek - having a good dealer always helps. 2. I didn't like the handle bars and replaced it with a flat bar and cane creek ergo control bar ends - love em. the su200 weighs about 29 lbs with seat bag and pedals - noticeable when climbing. Both the trek and the cannondale are black or dark blue, and are impossible to see at night if you go stealth mode - I carry at least three lights for night riding.
Not sure what the bad boy model is you are looking at, but seem nice - whichever shop you like might be the deal maker. hope it helps...
I have a 2002 BadBoy that I have been happy with. The headshock and disk brakes on my bike work well for dealing with city streets and wet weather braking. I don't commute very often but this is the bike I take when I do.
