    Who Owns Who

Does anyone have a good list of which companies own others in the biking world. For example Performance owns Nashbar and Supergo; Trek owns Lemond; Litespeed owns Merlin.

American Bicycle Group owns Litespeed/Merlin/Quintana Roo/Tomac

Pretty sure that Trek owns Lemond/Fisher/Klein...and I heard they own Bontrager too.

    Let's see...

Trek definitely owns Bontrager; SRAM owns Sachs and Truvativ too. Performance and ABG are accounted for. Must be going blank, thought I could come up with a bunch. Syncros ever get bought by Ritchey? Does REI own Novara? What is in the Pacific stable these days? Who owns Schwinn these days?

    who owns who

Trek does own Bontrager, Pacific owns Schwinn and GT, Sram has Rock Shox and Avid. I'm pretty sure Ritchey did buy Syncros.

How about who makes what for who?

I remember hearing, at the LBS I think, that the reason Giant bikes are so much cheaper than other brand's competitively speced bikes is because Giant is the house brand of one of the large asian fabricators which contracts its services to others. I think they make some specialized frames, for instance. In the world of smaller houses, aren't Gunnar and Waterford Precision the same folks, just with different missions? But back to the mass consumer brands. Wouldn't it be illuminating to know which highly prized prestige frames shared pedigree with another brand considered, perhaps wrongly, to be of lesser quality, due to the intricacies of shared factories and the like?

Gunnar and Waterford, Swix and Pedros

The gunnar and waterford people are the same folks. I even have waterford dropouts on my gunnar sport, it's an awesome ride.

Swix (the ski wax, cloths and pole company) owns Pedros.
