    Gaerne Cycling Shoes

Good deals both in the closeout section AND the road shoes section from this Italian company (with distribution in USA). These are the brand used by Cadel Evans (the special shoes he'll be wearing next year can be seen here: http://italiancyclingjournal.blogspo...dition-wc.html)

Like Sidi. Narrow Italian fit and the toeboxes aren't exactly spacious.

I have a pair of their motorcycle racing boots and really love the quality. I'm guessing that they would be good on the road as well.

I may have to spring for a pair as my birthday is coming up soon...

Like he said...and Gaerne is way cheaper than SIDI. Why pay MORE for the same exact cut, materials and fit?

I used a 43 SIDI and now I use a 42.5 Gaerne. Me like Gaerne very much! I bought the G.Myst carbon in blingy white. Much stiffer than my Pearl Izumi Viper, and also SIDI Genius 5.

And I think they sponsor Lampre now, so Cunego's sporting a pair of these.

    Nope!!!!!!!!!!!
They do NOT fit just like Sidi's.
I have Sidi Dragons and Sidi Ergo's.
The Gaerne's are a full size larger than Sidi's.

I had SIDI Genius, Dragon and they are a bit smaller...yes, but the Gaerne FELT 10x better - especially for the price. Not bad for an Italian maker...

Im a huge Gaerne fan from the days when Chiappucci and Pantani sported these golden slippers. I'm glad to see they will be receiving better exposure from success of Evans.

I've had two pairs myself: The Darts and Chronos. Even though the Chronos maybe a pair that is nearly 12 years old, the leather upper and the soles are in still great shape. The fit has a nice narrow heel cup that held my feet securely and still had a wide enough toe box for my flat feet to breathe. It doesn't have a fancy micro adjuster like Sidi, but the ratchet system is top notch for its day.

I ride in DMT's now but still miss my old Chronos.

What would be a good size Gaerne shoe for a 8.5 mens US size?

and which of their models have carbon insoles?

An 8.5 is a 42 EURO. The Carbon G.Myst Plus, Carbon G.Myst and Carbon G.Fora are all road shoes with carbon fiber soles http://www.gaerneshoes.com

    Gaerne vs Sidi

    Hi there
I am from Argentina and it's hard to find good quality cycling shoes there.
Intend to buy Gaerne via internet, but I am concern about size
Currently use Sidi Bullet 47 but my ffet have high upper and I was told Sidi Mega would fit better. Also I see Gaerne is much cheaper, please consider I have to pay 50 % import duty
Any suggestions ? Does anyone have same experince ?
    Should I go for 47 Gaerne ?
    Thanks in advance
    Pedal to death
    Gustavo

Gaerne is nearly the same size as SIDI. Ask internet seller the length and width of shoe. If the same size as your current shoe - all is good. Gaerne is also handmade in Italy too, but cheaper than overpriced SIDI.
