It goes without saying, but I would definitely check ebay first. I bought mine last year (new in the box) and saved about $60.

    Thumbs up

    Thanks Newridr.
Ive checked all the usual suspects, performance, excel, colorado, cambria, etc... most of them have deals on the '05 helmet color patterns, but most of them only have smalls in those helmets and I need a medium.

I will try the 'bay. Thanks.

Mostly smalls, but Med and Lrg in the Lonestar.

Now I'm not a salesman for these people but...

The shop I mentioned in this thread also has some helmets for sale. I believe they had more than a handful of the high end Giros (Pneumos and Atomoses) for something crazy like $60.

If I'm wrong please someone correct me, but I'm pretty sure they had a couple of '05 Pneumos for that price.

Ditto to eBay. If you know what you want, and the size, it is pretty hard to beat. My Pneumo was off eBay, though it was a couple of years ago.

Sorry to bump this but in case anyone is wondering, I contacted Bicycle Wharehouse about thier stock of '05 giro helmets and was told that they are "sold out".

Giro Atmos / What Color To Purchase?

I am getting a Giro Atmos helmet as a gift. Normally, I would not spend this amount of money on a helmet. I am torn between two colors. My bike is a Trek Pilot 2.1. It is Silver (brushed aluminum) and black. I really like the colors in the Team Discovery Atmos. It is Silver/Black/Blue. I am told it does not have any "Team Discovery" wording or logo which is good, as I only want the colors. I am also thinking about the Silver/White model.

I am 54 years old and I guess I ride pretty good for an old guy. Can ride 50 miles with no problems. Would I be made fun of from the local roadies with the Team Discovery color? I do not want to be identified as having reached a riding level worthy of this Team Discovery, but I do like the color.

Do you think I would be better off with the Silver/White? Thanks.

As long as you don't show up at a group ride with a Team Discovery bike, shirt and shorts, I don't think anybody will think you are trying to make a statement. Even then, most would only think you must be a pretty big fan.

    don't worry...

get the colors you like. if you have any doubts, just say, "Hey, i got
an Atmos for my {insert-gift-reason-here}". you shouldn't worry
about what others think. if they give you a hard time, find some nicer
people to ride with. many of us have generous and understanding
family and friends who gift us with stuff that could be considered
"pro-level"; my wife gave me a titanium BB for my kestrel one
year, should i have to apologise for my having better equipment
than i really _need_? on the other hand, if you're bragging about
your kit, and you're a true fred(i.e blame your performance on your
equipment) then you get what you deserve(wasn't hubris one of the
seven deadly sins?) anyway, you sound 'normal' so just get the
color you like and enjoy the aesthetic value of your new helmet.

i have a holiday gift certificate burning a huge $200 hole in my pocket,
so i will be getting new shoes soon(looking at specialized BG pro carbons
and shimano r215) could i use 'lesser' shoes, probably. will i look too
"professional"? maybe, but, I DON'T CARE...and neither should you ;-)

here's my quote for the day, although this applies to almost any
day you get on your bike:

"Instructions for use: Ride and Enjoy. Repeat as necessary."
