    Any Jimi Hendrix fans here?

There's a "new" album. "Both Sides of the Sky" is going on sale next week. It's 13 studio tracks recorded during the year or so after "Electric Ladyland", mostly with his new bandmates Billy Cox and Buddy Miles. NPR has it available for streaming right now.

To my ear, this is superb, vintage Jimi, some of it every bit as good as the best stuff on the incomparable "Ladyland".

I hope some of you enjoy it as much as I did.
Have you ever been to Electric Ladyland?

I took a quick listen to a couple of tracks - good stuff. Nobody could or can phrase the guitar lick with the his vocals like Hendrix. The Band of Gypsies live album is still one of my go to listens.

Definitely not good music for trying to pay attention to what I'm doing at work, I'm finding.
    Otherwise this is amazing.

The guitar on track #6, Power of Soul, wow, just wow.

I'm fortunate that the radio station I listen to, WPKN, is WAY ahead of the curve in playing new music, and has been airing cuts from this release for at least the last couple months.

And Jimi was a talent, indeed.

I saw the Jimi Hendrix Experience two, maybe three times. Definitely at the Hollywood Bowl and definitely at the Inglewood Forum. One of the best musical acts I've ever seen, no matter what the genre.
Mapie is a conventional looking former Hollywood bon viveur, now leading a quiet life in a house made of wood by an isolated beach. He has cultivated a taste for culture, and is a celebrated raconteur amongst his local associates, who are artists, actors, and other leftfield/eccentric types. I imagine he has a telescope, and an unusual sculpture outside his front door. He is also a beach comber. The Rydster.

    Word!
"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

    Nice. Thanks!

Here's another of my favorite Hendrix cuts

    Yeah, that's a winner. Thanks.

Winterland, October 10-11-12, 1968. I was at one of those shows, probably the night after this recording. Fantastic show. Jimi kept apologizing that it wasn't loud enough (it was plenty loud) because his amps were burning out after a couple of weeks of use. He demolished all the sound equipment at the end of the show.

BBC one sessions is one of my favorites albums of all time, it was early on and before he was huge, and they're screwing around on some tracks just having a ball.

Thanks for the heads up OP
