Bike parts breed in the dark

They must. I went into my basement looking for a package of handlebar tape, and I found four mini-pumps, three chainrings, three seatposts, two stems, two mileage computers, two ISIS bottom brackets, and one roll of Velox rim tape, among other things. I don't even remember when, where, or why I acquired some of this stuff. Where did ONE roll of rim tape come from? Don't I always buy it in pairs, just like wheels?

    Off to eBay, BRB.
It's funny until someone gets hurt. Then it's hilarious.

    Tape, wrong color?
Four mini-pumps, that never worked anyway?
Three chainrings, and I don't even own a triple?
Three seatposts, that don't fit any of my bikes?
Two stems, one's too short & one's too long?
Two mileage computers, neither of which is complete?
Two ISIS bottom brackets, see seatposts comment?
One roll of Velox rim tape, for my unicycle?

    House parts=same problem.

In fact it is the "OK, I'm hiding from you," followed several months later by the "Hey look, here we are" when you no longer need them that is the most frustrating.

I just found a set of puck lights for under counter that I knew were somewhere in with my stuff--but the kitchen has been finished for over a year.

If you really needed any of your stuff--you would not be able to put your hands on it!

They must. I have a front deraileur in my garage that just appeared. I don't know where it came from, or why I have it, but there it is.

They do and sometimes it isn't pretty. I have a bunch of road bikes in the garage with some 26" MTB's. Next thing I know there's a pair of 29er's a fixie and a tandem! Genetic mutation ain't pretty!

Really?! Does anyone have a Durace or Record grouppo that I can borrow for a while. They will be left alone in a dark corner of the basement...I'll return when done.

Oh wait, it I toss them in with some 9 speed Ultegra parts will I get a 'mixed' breed?
