Maybe spring isn't the best time to look for a used bike or something because I haven't found much on Craigslist for a large city the size of Vegas. Saw plenty of women's bikes but that doesn't help me. The men's bikes were either too large (online calculator says my size is 53-54) and/or they are trying to sell them for almost full retail price. Maybe they paid too much to begin with, but $100 off list for a +5 yr old $1500 bike is not my idea of buying used. Guess there IS a sucker born every minute. In one ad the 3rd owner was trying to get almost what he said he paid for it.
There are many bike shops here but after visiting some it was the same story. You couldn't find a minimum of 105 gear without getting into some serious price tags and I read that it's harder to upgrade if you don't start with 105, ( I read so many posts I can't specify it exactly). None of the shops I found sold used bikes or had a bulletin board of any kind for people who upgraded to another bike.
It's funny that biking is so popular here (I'm in Boulder City outside of Vegas) but the used market sucks. So at the end of the day buying from BikesDirect is the most logical choice for me. I plan on getting something like a Motobecane in the $1500 range. I've googled the models I'm interested in and I've seen mostly positive reviews and comments from this forum and others. Of course, it doesn't help when every owner says the same thing about every bike out there, "It's the best thing ever!!!!"
Bikes Direct likes to shill from low-post-count recently-created-accounts, and then scream "OH NO, THAT'S NOT ME, I'M LEGIT!!!" when someone makes fun of the fact.
.
Monkhouse: I want to die like my Dad did... peacefully, in his sleep, not screaming in terror like his passengers.
SystemShock: Stop making excuses for 'im. Lance is a POS. Period.
Kitty: ROMNEY LANDSLIDE! Man its going to be fun in PO after Election Day.
P: I'm not against religion, I'm against ppl wearing it as a badge of "I'm right"
Seamus: Saw Bjork poop on stage back in the day. It blew my teenage mind.
Every time Bikes Direct gets in front of you on a group ride, it claims it won the sprint to that last sign. Then it sucks your wheel for the next 20 minutes.

Bikes direct spells everything correctly in its posts in the Lounge. Except when it's trying to be hip. And when Bikes Direct tries to be hip, it isn't.
