Bourbon street is kickin' our a**ses.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to substitute * for ss after an evining on bourbon st. We celebrated our 20th anniversary at a top dollar steak house in Nola then stepped into the gutter. This is getting ugly.

That will be tomorrow on the cemetery tour if we wake up in time. All I have to say is if you haven't been to New Orleans then you need to go. But skip the bars playin Lynyrd Skynyrd and stop at the rare place playing real jazz or go to one of the zydeco bars for the real fun. The real NOLA music is incredible.

It's really been pretty neat listening to some great jazz and zydeco music although it's been a bit disappointing seeing how much of it is just a big spring break party. The majority of the clubs are catering to the college age crowd and you have to look hard to find the real New Orleans Music that we came here for. But overall I really like the place. There is a lot of exciting things going on and the vibe is great. Tomorrow we'll check out the cemeteries and then on Thursday we'll do a swamp tour followed by one of the many parades leading up to mardi gras.

I'll be rolling into town on Sunday for a few days of Mardi Gras madness. A buddy recently went through a divorce and this is his first trip as a single guy after 11 yeas of marriage. It's gonna be interesting to see how us late 30 somethings hold up for 3 nights of French Q insanity. Oh yeah, my footwear of choice will be a pair of waterproof and steel toed black oiled leather work boots.

You gotta get off that tourist trail.
Go to the DBA bar at Fabourg Marigny tonight. It looks like they have a great lineup.
dba bar new orleans
They always have great music and a great time.

That's on the list, I've heard that Frenchman st. is where the real blues are played. And that DBA is the place with the best microbrews & scotch selection. We're hoping to make it down there before we leave but we've got a full schedule. Tonight and tomorrow there are multiple parades from some of the more colorful Krewes, we'll see how much energy we have after that little adventure.
Today was Lafayette Cem. and the Garden District with lunch at 'The Grocery' on St. Charles which was one of the best meals of the trip. Right now we are catching our breath in our room for a couple of hours before this evening.

We "posed" as cops to get through the crowds better. Just say, "Police, coming through" and people get out of your way.
I expected the Rocky Mountains to be a little rockier than this.
I was thinking the same thing. That John Denver's full of $hit, man.
