GREAT, absolutly GREAT time at OEH's this weekend. Perhaps too good...
Get to Burbank AIrport... Um, wtf? Why are these corners cracked?! Go over to SWA Baggage people.
Bent: "Um, yalls cracked the corners of this bag"
SWA: "Oh, i see"
Bent: "Um... yeah, so this bag is pretty jacked up for one flight"
SWA: "Well thats what that bag is supposed to do... so we are not liable for damage"
Bent: "Um, what?"
SWA: "Yah, those bags are supposed to crush and crack to protect your bike"
Bent: "Um, your wrong"
SWA: "Well, we can file a courtesy complaint, since its not our fault"
Bent: "Ok fine, Ill speak to somone who can actually make a rational decision..."
Thanks to Roebuck for his patience... Pics tomorrow for the composite repair section...

The bike case might have its own warranty. More importantly, how's the bike? And how was the weekend?
Mapie is a conventional looking former Hollywood bon viveur, now leading a quiet life in a house made of wood by an isolated beach. He has cultivated a taste for culture, and is a celebrated raconteur amongst his local associates, who are artists, actors, and other leftfield/eccentric types. I imagine he has a telescope, and an unusual sculpture outside his front door. He is also a beach comber. The Rydster.
what kind of wieve is that CF case? suprised it didnt implode.
Its fiberglass, not carbon. They just use black resin to make it look rad. I think its just E-Glass (electrical grade) with epoxy matrix. They also manufacture Black Fiberglass to "Look" like Carbon Fiber.
A swath of ballistic grade kevlar will fix those corners right up.

Swa goobered up 3 corners. Cracked and dented them. I am going to ream them tom. The box is tot usable. But i can glass the corners to make them 100%
Subtitles...
"Southwest Airlines cracked and dented 3 of four top corners of your box. I am going to have a discussion with them tomorrow about how they are going to fix this. The box is totally usable, and I will reinforce the corners to make it much gooder... word.

Airtran didn't break my box (I have the same one that Bent used this weekend) but boy did they charge me out the a$$ for it!. It was a really nice touch how they charged me more for it at Sea/Tac than they did at Atlanta Hartsfield.
Don't even get me started on the 350+ lb ape that sat beside me on the flight home. I expect a dinner and a movie before someone touches me that much.
This is why I am scared to invest in a bike box......I think I will build my own......where did I put that fiberglass.
You know, that case that Bent, and Tcon used is pretty nice.
Amazingly compact for a hard case, and I watched Bent unpack it. Really slick.
I think if you just got the fibreglass out and reinforced the corners on that puppy you'd be good.
Only thing that amazed me was when Bent unpacked it there is only 1 compression strut inside - there should be 4 in that case - I'd find some more of those.

I think they'd be pretty easy to rig up with some PVC pipe and fittings.
We were planning on having a huge one on labor day, can you make that?
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm............................ ...........maybe so
