    Celebrate good times?

Well, this is a pleasant surprise, I had been paying more toward my student loans to try and get it knocked out. Looks like my budget estimates were a little off. I thought I had 1 payment left in June, but upon logging in this morning, I saw that I owed $1.87. Needless to say, I paid it off today.

Originally I had wanted to celebrate the occasion by getting myself a new[-to-me] DSLR and I had my heart set on a 5D MkII. But as time progresses and interests change, I haven't been doing much photography so I've had plenty of time to rethink that decision.

This morning, I found a full Di2 11 speed Ultegra group with hydraulic brakes for $500. Needless to say, the current hobby is cycling and this is very tempting. I don't have a disc frame, and pondering if this should be my celebratory gift to myself. Maybe even carbon...

    Good Times.
Any time you meet a payment.
    Good Times.
Any time you need a friend.
    Good Times.
Any time you’re out from under.

Not getting hassled, not getting hustled.
    Keepin’ your head above water,
Making a wave when you can.

    Temporary layoffs.
    Good Times.
    Easy credit rip offs.
    Good Times.
    Scratchin’ and surviving.
    Good Times.
    Hangin’ in a chow line
    Good Times.
Ain’t we lucky we got ’em
    Good Times.

Today I am officially unencumbered by ANY debt to anybody on this planet.

I will celebrate by continuing to save my money, living frugally but buying expensive bikes ever 3-5 years as the "need" arises.

Aside from mortgage and whatever I put on my credit cards each month (I pay it off every month), I have no other debts. With some luck, I hope to retire in 24 years (currently 33).

As for my celebratory gift, I'll be building out a TI motobecane with full force groupset.

I paid off my mortgage 1992, shortly after my 40th, the only debt I have had since then was short term, because it was a money saver to borrow for a vehicle rather than paying cash. (rebates (no pre-payment penalties in the my state.)) my dad died with a million /five in red ink. (he was good) I learned a lot from the master. No debt for this boy.)

I have lived without a lot of stuff I wanted, but not without what I needed. I raised 4 kids, all college graduates. 2 with graduate degrees and all successful in their fields.

It ain't rocket science. Don't spend more than you make!
