At least Maine has low expectations this time of year. More snow 1-3 inches coming tonight in Virginia.

I WILL wind up with more February miles than March miles.
I'll probably wind up with more January miles than March miles.
Worst.Riding.Month.Ever(?) I don't know- but it's definitely on the short list.

I can happily say that March surpassed February and should, almost easily, surpass January. But this has been the hardest starting year in the last coupla few.

First road ride of the year, 42 and windy. 30 not-so-pleasant miles.

I only have one March ride and that was yesterday. If I were not desperate I wouldn't have ridden with all the puddles and salt on the road. Those nice days in February were a teaser just to destroy my morale in March

We headed out of town on Friday morning and won't be home until Wednesday evening, then Thursday and Friday morning are going to be shot to hell with work. Might be able to ride Friday depending on the weather. For reference, my trusty steel doesn't go out in salt and sand, I ride plastic until things are cleaned up.
    Of course I'm sure...that doesn't mean I'm right.....

My gosh, you've had almost 3 months that you could have ridden "not so pleasant miles", why'd you wait so long?

I'm in nOOky's part of the world and did ride both days this weekend. I concur on the cold n' blustery, but it's just what you gotta do to get the legs back in shape this time of year.

There are still 3-foot high piles of ice-crust snowbanks next to my driveway. The weekend before I put an end to my X-C ski season, which was probably at its best from late January to early March. When I rode yesterday I still saw people out on the frozen lakes. Par for the course here. We've seen 1 day above 50 since last November. No guarantees that April is gonna warm up a whole lot more either.

I have been out fat biking instead. Are you really questioning why I wasn't out on the salty sandy roads in below zero weather?! How else would I need an excuse to buy different types of bicycles? Plus I don't want to get my good road bike dirty

The gravel roads are finally becoming good enough for the cross bike, I'll probably start doing more of that as I have a 100 mile gravel grinder in only a month from now, and I'm way out of shape.

Looks like I have 15 days of 70 degrees here in So. Utah. That, plus the extra impetus from the new steed will make for a great couple of weeks.

Driving out here on Friday it crossed my mind about how gruesome the east wind would have been on a bike. In my car, bet I lost 4 mpg.

Snow on the ground this morning. The kid has outdoor practice this afternoon. 50/50 if that will happen.

Apparently it's raining at home, hope it rains hard and long enough to wash the salt and grit off the roads. There were literally piles at bends and intersections

I don't know what you been getting up there in North America, but down here it rained all night and still is. Never a hard rain, just a soft constant rain. Just a drizzle now.

    But it's warming up.

My weather station says we got .19 last night, so probably just enough to make a bigger mess. Currently showing 39.5 at home.

He's gotten stronger that he was in the 90's. Must've given up drinking, smoking and taken up cycling.

Yeah, this is getting ridiculous. The forecast this week is staying in the upper 30s to low 40s. I canít remember a winter that has lasted this far into spring.

I went out this morning, it was 4 degrees C, that's about 35F, It was cold and the wind got stronger and stronger. There was no rain, it had stopped but the mist was damn right chilly. I got soaked through and the wind chill made everything cold to the bone. If I had gone with more thermals, I know the sun would have broken through and made it really warm. Tomorrow the forecast is for 20C/68F and the day after more snow down to -2C/30F. We will see, but tomorrow should be a 3 hour ride, touch wood. I always figured if we are mainly biatching about the weather our lives can't be that bad.
