Well, with all those new bands he's in, I guess something had to give.

Damn. I think they made the prettiest, slamminest little pieces of rock music since Led Zeppelin. The Going Back to Memphis/Let's Build a Home/John the Revelator medley they did on Conan was the best piece of live rock I've ever heard. Unreal slick with just a guitar, a mic, a drum kit and Meg's swinging tits. Whoa now.

edit - gone from youtube because NBC is squashing Conan's old shows. Too bad. It's really something.

b: I'm a Jack White fan (reluctantly at first, but wholehearted now) so as long as he's keeping on, I'm fine.
c: If you like them, check out the Black Keys. Similar thing, but without the tits.

I honestly thought they had already broken up. I'm sure Jack at least will go on to new and great things. That recording studio he started sounds awesome.

Yeah, they're awesome. As talented/charismatic as JW is, his side projects just don't come out the same without MW backing him up. Check out It Might Get Loud if you haven't yet.

I like 'em. Mostly, though, I was always stunned by the sheer amount of sound those two could put out. They'd come out on stage, sorta mousy and innocuous, and WHAM!

I had to youtube them to see if I knew any of their music. I'd heard the name before but have only heard one riff from one song. I guess I'm unaffected.

That makes 2 of us. I thought the story was that the Stripes broke up upon their divorce and formed The Raconteurs, or something like that

Sucks. Last I heard they were working on a new album, so this is disappointing.

That said, I feel like that band had done all they could do, gone as far as they could. Icky Thump is not a bad album to go out on.

I like that Conan cut. The stuff he's producing doesn't do it for me. Overproducing would be a better word.

I agree ToG. Great tune, and I'd say one of Jacks best. That whole Loretta Lynne album was fantastic.

yup...it's not like he's stopping making music. I think this is much ado about nothing.

I am/was essentially addicted to the Stripes. Like someone else posted, I had heard a new album was in the works.

Black Keys - good, not great. The rest of Jack White's work of late gets a big "eh."

I am seriously bummed out by this news. I gotta think it's got something to do with Meg's "anxiety" a few years back.
