    Fedex Smartpost...how does it work?

    I see my Kindle is in Denver today. Is it really gonna sit there for 3-4 more days before they deliver it? How does this Fedex smartpost stuff work?

    I think Smartpost is Fedex using USPS as a delivery method more or less.

    The shipment is picked up at origin by Smart Post
    It moves via Smart Post truck to destination city
    It is placed in local USPS for delivery to you

    Ahh...so Fedex basically subcontracts with USPS to save money then?

    Yeah. it's designed to offer similar rates to USPS....The product catagory is known as re-mailing. There are many companies that offer a similar service.. In my experience, it's a little slower than priority mail... If they say 7 days...it takes 7 days...you might get lucky..

    Performance Bike and Nashbar use Smart Post for standard shipping....

    This is the free super saver shipping from Amazon so I'm sure it gets no special attention. I am cheap. I figure I can usually wait a few more days to save a few bucks in shipping. Hell, I ordered it on August 24th so I've already been waiting a while.

    I've been ordering a bunch of the free stuff. Quite a lot available if you enjoy classics no longer under copyright.

    Nope...mine is still MIA somewhere around Denver. Funny that you ordered yours way later than me and got it earlier. Maybe mine will show today.

    It's really cool. I need to charge it up and then figure out if Im going to give it to my mom as an early Christmas present, or just give it to her for the fun of it.

    Wife says wait till Christmas....I hate waiting.

    I ordered once from performance & went cheap w/Smartpost.

    My package sat in some sort of holding facility for 11 days, and finally arrived at my house a full 14 days after placing the order.

    Seems like a crapshoot. Chain's showed up super quick. Mine is in a holding pattern somewhere in Denver. I guess the bottom line is that its probably lower priority than the other mail and if it's convenient they'll get it to you early, but if not then it might sit around until they have enough other packages ready to make it worth the delivery.

    //edit...it just showed up.

    My Nashbar order ihas taken 8 days so far.. It showed being dropped at my local post office at 7:30 this morning. The note says to expect delivery 1-2 after being dropped at the local post office... We'll see...
