[QUOTE=BCSaltchucker;5140559]And there are many over-wrought IPAs out there now.

I like just about any beer. Time and place and all that. But...

A friend just opened a taproom in my town with the schtick of offering lots of local/regional brews. He was talking to the brew master from one of the local breweries about what varieties of beer to carry. The brew master's opinion was that he should only carry a few good IPAs as their proliferation is due to how easy it is to mask other brewing mistakes by over hopping a beer and calling it an IPA.

Guess they figure, if people like bitter, burnt-tasting Starbucks coffee, then do the same with beer......?

I'm happy with an occasional Belgian ale, don't know how it's classified other than strong and delicious. Got some in the 'fridge right now.

that's a quad. Put it in a wine fridge, they taste better at about 55 degrees. My beer color goes with the weather, cold = dark, warm = lighter. I like them all, sour, bitter, sweet I find a good Gueuze tough to beat. Most lambics you find in America are of lesser quality, there are really good ones. I like IPAs too, but find when all I can taste is hop that I am assuming it is bad / lazy beer making. When you find one with malt notes and not too much pine tar and grapefruit that they are delightful

I assume Pine-Sol tastes the way it smells, like a ridiculously over-hopped IPA.
