Hey America, Where's Your Talent ?

I was watching America's Got Talent, and a couple things occurred to me:

    1. Most of the contestants aren't American.

    2. None of the Judges are American. Howie Mandel, a Canadian, is the closest. Mel B and Simon Cowell are Brits, and Heidi Klum is German. The only American is Tyra Banks, whose only function appears to be standing in the wings and making exaggerated expressions of amazement.

    What's Up With That?
    Insert something clever here:

if you're watching a corporate, mainstream talent show to find new talent, you're doing it wrong.

Someone doesn't understand how casting for "no-talent" shows works.

If we want to get technical, Howie fits the title just fine. He's from Canadia, which just so happens to be in North America.

Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum are U.S. Citizens. Thus they are... Americans.

And stop watching America's Got Talent. It'll kill your brain cells.

I agree. This is a "gateway show" that could lead to far worse addictions, like watching one of those Kardashian shows

If you really want to get technical, it should be America Has Talent.

They should just turn it into The Gong Show. Half of the material they're showcasing now are stuff we used to see on TGS.

Nope, nothing special for Mericans. AGT is part of the global Got Talent franchise.
It has spawned spin-offs in over 58 countries (as of 2014), in what is now referred to as the 'Got Talent' format
In April 2014, the format was named the world's most successful reality TV format ever by the Guinness World Records.

I think that it's a given that a show for people who haven't been able to make it through normal channels (you know, like through a TALENT agency), that there is very little "talent" on display.

That's like saying only those who own a shop and a business card have legitimate antiques, hence uselessness for some coined the "Roadshow."

Lining up, waiting for a "TRY," no spiel or agent in sight, no head shots or working portfolio in the mix, the thought of just being a part of the BIG happening in a small town or city and a dream can find precious gems.

And ...inspire viewers. A rare thing now a days.

Had to add BELOW this Bill Boards Award and her speech to the audience during the ceremony. Play it. It's a JOY. It explains everything.
