How an indie musician can make $19,000 in 10 hours using twitter

    Amanda Fu*king Palmer.

total made on twitter in two hours = $11,000.
total made from my huge-ass ben-folds produced-major-label solo album this year = $0
    I love her.

And this is a good story, worth a read. I found it originally from a Salon article (here) discussing the dire journalism and music market (dire for the current PTB and therefore the artists/journalists) and how Amanda Palmer found a way, it seems, to circumvent a lot of it.

The full story is on her blog (here). It's down a little ways, but if you search for the word "Lefsetz" you'll go right to it. It's worth a read.

    once again proving

major label record deals are a scam
Amanda, hopefully they'll drop you and you can go solo
I bet she could do a gig in her bedroom, record it and twitter sell it for a chunk
    but Amanda, $25 for a 1 color-2- side t-shirt?
    what a f'in capitalist
one nation, under surveillance with liberty and justice for few

Other than the rare concert shirt purchase I don't think I've ever spent more than $10 for a t-shirt.

both musician and designer for a clothing company
a 1 color 2 sided print may run about $4 to produce (on a good beefy tee)
we retailed tees 2 sided prints with as many as 10 or 11 color prints for around $18
as a musician we sold our tees for $10 SS, $15 LS and they cost us $5-8 to produce
