"One section of the patent mentioned that advertisers can use the technology to navigate a user through a newly set up ad campaign."

    lovely.

and now Google is shunting everyone into G+ ... good thing I still know how to read a paper map.

one might conclude that Microsoft is racist, except all their device does is avoid areas of high crime. It was the writer of the article that made the connection between high crime and ghetto
Whenever the legislators endeavour to take away and destroy the property of the people, or to reduce them to slavery under arbitrary power, they put themselves into a state of war with the people who are thereupon absolved from any further obedience, and are left to the common refuge which God hath provided for all men against force and violence - John Locke

LOL, I think you're right. After clicking through I don't see the term "ghetto" in their patent.

Wow, the comments section of that article is scary and sad. I hope the feelings expressed there are the minority.

It would probably redirect me when I was bike commuting in Norfolk. It was ok for three years, I rode through while all the bad guys were sleeping.

I can see that feature being useful when traveling in cities that I'm not familiar with.

Based on this post, I went and read the comments.

It started off pretty tame. I thought redirecting around cities like Philly and Detroit was funny, then I kept reading and was really surprised. Pretty nasty stuff and I agree with you.

For example, any Comments section of most any Yahoo article on politics is a "hive of scum and villainy".

I think it's fine, and will probably spawn other choices, such as "Avoid heavily-Republican gated communities."

Actually, where I live, it has more to do with the quality of the vehicle than the color of the skin that draws the ire of the man.
