A new breath of life for my Vixen.

I went for a ride yesterday morning and along with my Gunnar I brought my Bianchi Volpe. The Volpe got me to and form school/work plenty of times but recently she's been just sitting around as I'm a huge wimp and didn't ride to work in the summer.

When we got back to the shop I gave the Bianchi some lovin. New brake pads in the front, adjusted the cables, cleaned the funk from the BB and gave her a nice scrub down.

I also made a few changes to her. I took off the rack and fenders and 25 slicks and put on some knobby 35's.

I've had a bad jonesin for the dirt lately and I'll be getting my fix here this week sometime, and ideally many times after that. I expect I'll need new rims pretty soon as well after these are destroyed.

    Whaddya think?

I like it Joe. Our babies all need some TLC once in a while. I worked on Edwards little 12" bike with training wheels today. The last person who worked on it tightened everything so tight that the poor little guy struggled way more than necessary to pedal. I greased the bearings in the BB (there wasn't any left), loosened the bolts all around and turned it into a real little speedster. He'll be flying to daycare tomorrow

I think it looks tits. I've been wanting a cross bike for some time now (specifically a Bianchi Axis or Cross Concept), but fundage is slim at current due to my Seven which I'm patiently awaiting.

Get out there and put some wear into them tires!

For some reason the Volpe's just make my sticker peck out. I Bianchi would make one in my size.

She needs a new crankset and you need to replace that De*re RD and cassette ASAP.

The crankset is what I really want. I'll use the rd till it rips off or starts to malfunction, same with the cassette. They're okay right now and there's no reason to replace them. The ony reason I want to get rid of the cranks is because the bb was really creaky which seems to have been fixed by my taking it apart cleaning it and putting it back together, so there's really not much reason to replace that right now either.

    Do you like tacos?

If you're okay with waiting for my slow azz and hearing me suck wind going up hill I'd love to head down to your part of town for a little outing. I'm assuming that you know some sweet spots.

I took them to my lbs which was where we started. I knew I was going to do some work on the Volpe so I brought it along (in my truck).

They look like WTB dirt drop bars. Or they might be On-one Midge bars. Salsa also makes the Bell Lap bar, but I don't think they flare as much.

Are you still running the same Alex rims it came with? How have they held up? I know I'm probably twice your size but it might help to know if you've had any problems with them.

The alex rims got retensioned and moved over to my commter. They don't seem to last long when you hit the trails a bit.
Me and a friend built up some 32 spoke Open Sports with XT hubs. Much stronger.
    FWIW I'm a/b 185 lbs.

I'm not going to replace/upgrade anything on any of my bikes till the particular part is no longer working. I just expect the rims to be the first to go. 36 hole Deep V's with XT hubs (or I may just keep the Tiagra hubs) is probably what I'll be looking at if this trail riding picks up for me.

I've got some sort of unwavering faith in Deep V's... hopefully it's not that irrational

Another rim option to check out would be the DT R1.2s. The only downside is that they don't come in 87,000 pretty colors to match your bike.

That thing is just screaming to be converted to single-speed.

You think so? I'd consider 1x9 but I'm not sure about single speed. Besides, I've got a long ways to go money-wise before I can consider doing anything to anything.
