Vancouver wins President's Cup = no Stanley Cup
I expected the Rocky Mountains to be a little rockier than this.
I was thinking the same thing. That John Denver's full of $hit, man.

Looking forward to seeing the outcome of the Nashville/Detroit series.

I'm sure Anaheim would love him back. But they couldn't shovel enough money at him to keep him around. Vancouver is still benefiting from having him around all those years ago, and the Ducks probably would never have had their cup without him. He knows how to do it, but I am surprised he hasn't done more since he's been there. How have his farm team moves been?

Vancouver > Kings. Van's lack of 2nd tier scoring plus Quick might make it a long series.
St. Louis > Sharks. Sharks, shmarks.... see 'ya.
Chicago > Phoenix. Bleh, who cares?
Detroit > Nashville. Tough call. Pekka Rinne vs the tic-tac-toe passers.
Rangers > Senators. Although a hot Spezza could be the difference here.
Capitols > Boston. The Caps are my sleeper team this year plus I hate the B's.
Florida > Devils. Florida is hot, NJ is not. Yes.
Pittsburgh > Philly. The Penguins have a ton'a'talent. End of story. Too bad this is a 1st round matchup. Very.
And for further speculation:
Vancouver > Chicago
St. Louis > Detroit
Rangers > Caps
Pittsburgh > Florida
Vancouver > St. Louis
Pittsburgh > Rangers
Pittsburgh > Vancouver

Toronto Make Believes = Chicago Cubs
Most expensive tix in the NHL, h3ll they were the most expensive tix when the CDN $ was worth $0.65US.
They need Wendel Clark back, and Tim Horton and Howie Meeker, that's their only hope.

HokieRider likes this.

The stat that's been making the rounds in Vancouver is three of the last four teams that have won back to back President cups have gone on to win the Stanley Cup. That said, the Canucks really only backed into the PC with the collapse of St. Louis and the Rangers back-to-back losses down the stretch.
The Canucks are tougher (that's not saying much), have better goal tending, deeper, more balanced offense and at par or slightly less defense than last year. It bodes well for a deep run.

Detroit > Nashville. Tough call. Regular season games were even matches....
Rangers > Senators. Lotta scoring in this one. Unfortunately....
Boston > Capitals. If the Bruins can keep #8 out of the net: Yawner.
Florida > Debles. Florida is hot, NJ is not.
Philadelphia > Pittsburg. The Penguins have a ton'a'talent, but they have made me a Flyers fan this year. Too bad this is a 1st round matchup.

How much of a shambles this is in two-plus weeks=quality of this weed.
Canucks vs Kings - Canucks
Sharks vs Blues – Blues
Hawks vs ‘Yotes - Hawks
Wings vs Preds – Predators
Rangers vs Senators – Rangers
Caps vs Bruins – Bruins
Panthers vs Devis - Devils
Flyers vs Pens – Pens
Stone cold sober.....but that will change here at 5:00....

We can only hope. I think that first round series last year by far the most entertaining.

Not sure on the farm teams moves Joe. I just have never been a fan of the guy and know he is seriously being judged for his current performance and not what he did for Anaheim. Last year of his contract too.

Flyers came back from a 3rd pd 3-0 hole to win in OT........sweet.

I didn't think they had it in them. Great work by the Flyers.

They have been coming from behind all year long. If they plan on getting deep into the playoffs they better start stomping on the gas as soon as they drop the first puck.
That was a fine win!!!!!!!! I wonder if Hokie stayed up to watch that one. LOL

Their defense and their goalies are inconsistant. Last night was a perfect example.....once they got behind, their defense played great and the goalie came up big when he had to. It's like they can't get a fire under thier butt until they are behind.

I did. Watched the whole game.
Ran the gamut of emotions. I was on top of the world during the first period. Treaded water during the second. Began cursing in the third. Got quiet during OT.
There should be some sort of workout plan catered to getting a fan into playoff shape. No matter how many times I told myself it was just the first game, I was freaking out.
-
I am going to struggle to stay up to watch the Hawks tonight.
-
I realize it is the playoffs and all, but did it seem like there were more cheap shots taken? In the first game of a long series, I guess teams are trying to "set the tone"...Ugly stuff IMO.

Flyers and Penns taking cheap shots? Whoda thunk it?

In other news: When is Vancouver going to realize that Luongo is bi-polar?
Not a fan of the Kings at all but that third goal from them against the Nucks was a thing of beauty.
