MacArthur Park. You know who left the cake out in the rain? I did! I did it and I'm glad I did it!!
Just because you won't listen to reason does not mean I have to listen to idiocy.

Ran into some folks that went to see Blondie in Atlantic City with X as the opening act. Couldn't believe how Debbie Harry's voice was. They were watching X. Hilarious! Still,
    https://youtu.be/cDAs5JgoLZE

    I love X too.

I just listened to some Mott the Hoople ... still good!

MacArthur Park is one of my favorite tunes of all time. Yeah, the 'cake out in the rain' line isn't the strongest thing ever writ but everything else in the tune, especially the extended middle part, is absolutely outstanding. Some of the best pop music ever written. Richard Harris' vocal is all-over-the-place but in all the right ways. The musical arrangement is luxuriant.
Mapie is a conventional looking former Hollywood bon viveur, now leading a quiet life in a house made of wood by an isolated beach. He has cultivated a taste for culture, and is a celebrated raconteur amongst his local associates, who are artists, actors, and other leftfield/eccentric types. I imagine he has a telescope, and an unusual sculpture outside his front door. He is also a beach comber. The Rydster.

My classic rock station will throw this turd into the mix at least once a day. The bitterest angriest woman song. I know they need Canadian content (it's the law), but why this?

We just don’t realize the most significant moments of our lives when they’re happening
Back then I thought “well there'll be other days”
I didn’t realize that was the only day

    There's sometimes a buggy.
How many drivers does a buggy have?
    One.
So let's just say I'm drivin' this buggy...
and if you fix your attitude you can ride along with me.

I nominate Colby Caillat's "Bubbly" as the most infuriating, throw the God-damned speakers out the window song of relatively recent years. "Hey Soul Sister" by Train is a close second. Both are offensively stupid, shallow, bloodless, soul-less, namby-pamby and cutesy songs delivered in the most irritating fashion possible. Reading the lyrics sheet of either song is literally ingesting poison.

    Mott the Hoople is boss.

My girlfriend at the time when that movie (originally) came out loved both the movie and the soundtrack. I did not love the movie or the soundtrack. Wanna guess how many times I had to watch that movie and listen to that soundtrack? It still doesn't top my "worst" list but it's probably on the ladder one step below the top looking up the top's skirt.

Gah, I must have terrible taste in music as most of those are okay in my book. Papa don't preach is the only one I agree with so far.

    How's this for a turd?

Good choice for this thread. I think she was famous for 5 minutes for being an "authentic high-schooler" who brought out a song. But wow, it's all auto-tune and zero of her actual voice. Not to mention it's about as deep as a dried-up puddle.

I always thought that song was cute. Are you sure it isn't a Dylan cover?

I like the music but the human parts (singing, visuals, running-man, etc.) less so.

Without hesitation, Karmin's Acapella is the most horrible in my universe.

A few years back my daughter played this about 4 times in a row on the way to soccer practice. I was trying to be accommodating but it was promptly banned in my vehicle thereafter. It gets especially horrible around the 2:34 mark.

Sometimes you have to actually listen hard to hear the auto-tune being used, but not on this track! Yikes, she's hitting the auto-tune so often, I wonder just how bad her voice is in real life?

Can't help but agree. The band pretty much defines the term 'generic.' Loud. Empty... Or is that vapid?

I kept trying to deliberately remember this fellow for this thread, but my psychological defense repression mechanism worked too well...until this thread broke it:

More Americans wanted Hillary Clinton to be President than wanted Donald Trump.

Donald Trump has never had a wife he didn't cheat on.
