    Red Rock Canyon

Hello all. Been absent for a while; moving to Las Vegas and setting up shop as an optometrist in the Air Force has a way of sucking the sand out of the hourglass that is my life.

But, now that I've settled in, I've had some time to explore the area; it's beautiful. Red Rock Canyon is my happy place right now, both as a cyclist, hiker and amateur photographer. I snapped a few today, and I think they turned out decent. Weird weather today with stagnant clouds draped over the mountains; it was snowing at times, most notably at the top of the aptly-named Ice Box Canyon trail. The mountains had a very serene quality today, very reminiscent of old Chinese landscape paintings with mountains shrouded in mist and fog.

Looks a lot more comfortable than when I rode there in August 2007. I rented a road bike and rode through the Red Rock Canyon when I was on a business trip to LV. It was a beautiful ride, but it was already around 100 degrees when I finished the ride around 10:00 a.m. Should I ever get back to LV when the weather is cooler, I definitely would like to ride it again,

Thanks for the pics and now that your are settled, don't be a stranger around here.
I try to be perfectly civil, until someone really pisses me off.

Beautiful place, great shots, nice scenery.

I can't tell, though, it all looks a little blurry from twenty feet. Can you help me with that?

Very nice! You've been taking some good stuff for awhile.

Red Rock Canyon is just west of Las Vegas. You can see these mountains from the city limits; I have a decent view from my bedroom windown. I would say it's a great view but it's tainted with power lines.

I would expect the pictures to be less blurry considering your line of work and all

    Congrats all around!

I was wondering where you were and even contemplated starting a thread about it.

Congrats on getting your career started. Nice shots. I really, really like the last one.
