If he's got 53/11 gearing, then 90km/hr is 150RPM. Looked like he was on a descent wihtout air resistance this is totally plausible. Also, when pedaling briefly was hitting the correct cadence given the speed.
you guys are right though he's effed if, say, the truck has to make a sudden stop because some guy stalls out in front of him though.
