Agreed he put a lot of energy and effort in helping others. I thought he sucked as a dork actor. Nothing there for me. A good man none the less. RIP

likewise, did not care for his slapslick antics.

but, I liked his performance in King of Comedy with Robert DeNiro...a strange film.

    Very sad.

Loved watching the Jerry Lewis telethon in my teens, he raised a lot of money for MD.

I wonder if they will finally release his mystery movie that he made which he said he would never release so long as he was still alive.

The movie where he plays a clown leading Jewish children to the gas chamber?

I was a real fan of Jerry Lewis in my young, young days. Mom took me and sis to his movies. I watched the TV show. I can't remember for sure, but I think my sister actually knew one of Lewis' sons.
Mapie is a conventional looking former Hollywood bon viveur, now leading a quiet life in a house made of wood by an isolated beach. He has cultivated a taste for culture, and is a celebrated raconteur amongst his local associates, who are artists, actors, and other leftfield/eccentric types. I imagine he has a telescope, and an unusual sculpture outside his front door. He is also a beach comber. The Rydster.

I enjoyed some of his movies. He had a heck of a run, left the world a little bet better than he found it

I guess that's the one. No one has ever viewed the whole, entire thing except Lewis who wrote, directed & produced it himself. A 30 minute clip was all that was released for public viewing which I've yet to see.

From the summary it sounds along the lines of "Life is Beautiful" with Benigni which I did see at the show that eventually won the oscar. Lewis was always a man ahead of his time so who knows maybe there is an audience for it now.
