    RIP Mark E. Smith

One of my favorites. Missed a chance to see The Fall way back in 1984. Been a fan ever since. Some of the newer stuff is surprisingly good.

    Legend.

In the late 80's and into the 90's the Boston music scene was a big deal with some great bands. I got to know quite a few members of different bands and it was amazing how many of them just loved The Fall. And in many cases were're talking bands with completely different styles often nothing like The Fall. But there seemed to be mutual agreement they were awesome. I knew of the song "Hit the North" but had never heard of them at the time.

They had a great quote from him in the obituary --

'If it's me and your grandma playing the tambourine on stage, it's The Fall."

Anyone know if the band name comes from the Camus book titled The Fall? I had never thought of that until now but I'm thinking that must be the case.

I wouldn't go that far but I liked it very much. Despite being unfinished I might have to pick The First Man as far as novels go. It's all great though. Exile and the Kingdom is an amazing collection of short stories.
