Santa Cruz Boardwalk - Skyglider project
The Santa Cruz Boardwalk had their 100th birthday in 2011. It's a grand old dame here in Santa Cruz, right on the beach. In addition to a slew of spinny rides, haunted houses, a vintage wooden coaster, Ferris wheel and carousel, they have a 50's era cable suspended chairlift called the Skyglider.
I've been hired to do series of images of the Skyglider for one of their projects. Here are some images from that project, all captured with a tiny little Olympus E-P3 via either 20/1.7, 45/1.8, or 45-150/4-5.6, shot RAW, with minor PP in LW 3.6.
Boardwalk Skyglider series
I think this one is my favorite. From an affordable, medium focal length zoom on a compact m43 sensor.
Nothing pops like bright colors in the California sun. Nice shots, BTW.
Last time I was in SC was not long after the earthquake--there were still sections cordoned off and a lot of buildings that were unoccupied...
Must get back one of these years...
Recent eBay ad for a custom Bruce Gordon: "You may wonder how someone could buy such a bike, and own it for 34 years, yet ride it so little. The answer is not so bad as illness or death, but still very sad. You may have guessed already: Golf."
I love wandering the Boardwalk when it's empty.
It's all fun and games until someone ends up in a cone.
Don't make me go all honey badger on your ass
... was hoping there'd be more fire...
