    solstice hawk

It's a gorgeous day here in Texas, blue skies light wind and 75F. I am shackled to my desk for end of year work, but The Daughter captured these images of a nice big hawk munching a squirrel on our neighbor's lawn.

    Feel free to 'shop away.

we have a nice red tail hawk living in our neighborhood in Houston...caught him sitting on a telephone wire in our backyard one morning, and my wife asked: "how could they live here...what do they eat?" I couldn't bear to tell her that her bird feeders basically provided a smorgasbord of squirrels and pidgeons for said red tail.

Oh Solstice Hawk, oh Solstice Hawk,
    Your beak is so enchanting.
Oh Solstice Hawk, oh Solstice Hawk,
    Your hunger's so demanding.
It tears right through that mammal's skin,
So sharp with red upon your chin.
Oh Solstice Hawk, oh Solstice Hawk,
    Your beak is so ehnchating.
