    Walking Dead Season 7

Well, it looks like everyone else seems broken except Maggie. Is this a portent of things to come?

BTW, I love the show but haven't read the comics.

And after that opener, I'm still seeing people b!tch!ng all over the internet. I don't think the producers can win. I think at least half of the audience is going to hate on whatever they do. Yet they keep watching...

I've read the books so I'm biased. I enjoyed it. Faithful yet slightly different.

Loved it. Sounds like Abraham's legacy may live on through a child with Sasha. Carol is bound to recompose herself from her injuries and mental breakdown while at the Kingdom, and play a huge role in saving the rest of the gang from Negan. But, I don't think it will be this season. This setting is surely to carry over to the next. It's just too epic. I can't wait.

    Darryl isn't broken.

Neither is Rick, he's just pretending to be. He will be the one who kills Negan

Darryl may not be broken, but there is no way he can't connect the dots between what he did and what happened next, and he has to carry that around now.

Rick may very well be in pretty bad shape. Talking with my wife last night, if I had to make that choice he did with my kid, I may just as soon see everyone else shot. That was some pretty heinous stuff.

Torture porn - how awesome. Not. AMC and TWD walked over a boundary line for me. Ridiculous - I basically knew what was going to happen, but didn't think they would show nearly as much as they did. Why not just give one wack and leave the rest to the audience's imagination. Gimple & Kirkman are a couple of sick puppies. Good bye TWD, thanks for most of the memories (but not last night's).

Yeah, but then he was going to kill Carl after he killed the rest of them and keep Rick alive to think about it for a while before killing him too. So letting the rest of them die wasn't going to solve anything with the Carl situation.

It was warranted. You can't come back from arguably the biggest cliff-hanger in history, and just show a bloody bat swinging through the air. A vast majority of the viewership would have been seriously let down.

But I will admit that Glens actions after the initial hit were completely too far-fetched. No one that has their skull visually dented in by a barb-wired bat is going to be able to stay on their knees, much less have the sense to talk.

This morning, a co-worker was telling me how excited he was for the new season.

Co-worker: Do you watch the show?

    Me: No, why?

Co-worker: OH they just killed off the two main characters, oh my god, and this is just the start of the new season!

Me: Well, the show's called The Walking Dead, those characters should be back soon enough! They can't kill them.

Co-worker: Ohhh no they REALLY killed 'em! No WAY they can come back from THAT!

    Me: If you say so.......

I have to agree. I'm a recent fan but never enjoyed the gore part of it, stuck around for the characters and story development.
Last night was violence just for the sake of violence imo, not needed.
With that said, I will enjoy watching Maggie take out Negan when she's 9 months.
In reference to the Assault on Mt Mitchell...

That was pretty much a mirror image from the comic, Glenn with the dented head and eye popped out trying to talk to Maggie. It being far-fetched is irrelevant... we've already accepted zombies.

Sorry, 'tis true. Within the confines of the Walking Dead world, destroying the brain is perma-death. No coming back from that one.

It was needed. For every one person saying "too violent and gory", there would have been 1000 saying they wimped out without it. Glenn's death was supposed to have a nasty impact. An impact that couldn't be conveyed with vague references that something bad happened. Abraham's death was a show addition not from the comic. It was the only real disappointment in last night's episode for me. I think killing him first watered down the impact of Glenn's death... which is an extremely major event in the comic and an important turning point for the group going forward. I will give Abraham points for one last good quote though.

I think it was important to see what the others were seeing while being forced to just kneel there in silence. I didn't think it was gratuitous gore. I think it was extremely powerful stuff. I could feel Maggie's complete pain as she was watching Glenn flapping about after getting hit. Also, his final words, "I'll find you" was also quite powerful. It wouldn't have worked if he just said those words before getting hit. The whole of the bat scenes were hard for me to watch, and I am almost never bothered by gore and violence in film and the like. I think there are times for audience imagination and times when stuff should be shown. I think TWD has done a great job of this overall. Yes, it can be a fine line, but the bat scenes will stick with me for some time and not because of the gore. It was very emotional.
Man may trust man, Prince Elric, but perhaps we'll never have a truly sane world until men learn to trust mankind. That would mean the death of magic, I think.

I agree, it was too much. I had it on DVR, so fast forwarded through quite a bit. They may lose me as a viewer if they keep this up.

And there is this: In its season premiere, The Walking Dead's brutal violence finally went too far.
It's all fun and games until someone ends up in a cone.

It was too much for me to watch as well. Not so much for the gore or violence but for what Negan was doing to characters that I was completely invested in. I cared about these characters.

BTW, it's Daryl's fault Glenn meet Lucille.

Of course it was too much, the intent was to break the audience in the same way Negan was trying to break Rick.

Seriously though, how is this suddenly too much violence when the Gov cutting off Hershel's head or the Terminus people lining people up at a trough, clubbing them with a bat, cutting their throat, then butchering them for dinner or the back of Beth's head getting sprayed across a wall or Rick ripping a guy's throat out with his teeth was not?

Or when Noah had his face chewed off while Glen watched helplessly.

Yea I don't get all this outrage. It's like all of a sudden people forgot all the gruesome deaths and F'd up stuff in past episodes.

I'm thinking a lot of it is because people are just PO'd it was Glen.

I watched the episode but I am tired of it. Time to move on. I just watched this episode because of the cliff hanger on who was going to get their head bashed in. A double dose of gore. My favorite two characters are now gone. Watching Daryl walk around not saying anything with his cross bow is old. I never liked Rick or his son actually. Carol is a bad ass and she will probably be instrumental in the rescue with those RPG's they have stashed somewhere but I am not going to watch to find out. My son-in-law will tell me however.
