Definitely go on a snorkeling tour. Full day, shore lunch with lobster, and a variety of fish caught and cooked by the guides, snorkeled on three different reefs. Touched sharks. Awesome. Besides the eight of us there were 4 others for a total of 12 on the boat. Very nice, we weren't herded or anything. Got to a reef, the guides fished and we snorkeled. Drinks were plentiful.
Also take a Mayan ruins tour. We went to Lamanai. Full day, pick you up at your dock, boat to the mainland and up a river, get on a school bus and ride across country to the New River, get on another boat up to Lamanai, eat, tour and return. The locals are great, the ruins fantastic, food and drink simple but good. This is what you can expect Lamanai Trip, Tanisha Tours, Snorkeling,Fishing, Ambergris Caye, Belize I don't know if we used Tanisha Tours as there are several that do this route. The bus ride is not short but very interesting. A must do.
