If you were going to run an electric groupset in the future, than the frame with internal wiring would be the choice, but I am happy with cables for now.

Sorry for the messages as length is restricted to 1000 words

They both descend nicely too...have to lean ever so slightly towards the S-Works tho cause the Head tube is not as long and you get lower. But I am getting used to the Fuji and starting to lean in more and more round bends each time.
I have ridden a SL4 S-Works and loved the finish and the build quality but the only reason why I did not pull the trigger on it was not because I could not afford one…it’s just I am getting sick of slight changes that Specialized make to justify new models...hence in 3-6 months we will be hearing about a SL5? And the SL4 will be yesterday’s news. Sort of like the kilowatt game that HSV play on their Clubsport.
Price difference retail between the SL4 S- Works and Fuji Altamira is approx $3800 frame set Vs. $2700. I would not say the S-Works is an $1100 better bike...in fact I would say that Fuji has nailed the price point with this one. I guess Specialized have clever marketing and a lot of teams and staff to support!

The Fuji is a dream on the hills... more so than the S-Works and I find myself seated more often whilst climbing and I feel a little fresher after a ride. Everything on the frame looks so well made. The seat stays are so comfortable compared to the SL3 (after long rides, the usual bumps that piss you off when you’re tired are not noticed) and the matt black finish makes everyone look twice as the Fuji graphics are hard to read.
I have had zero issues with both...well a creak in the BB of the Fuji, but that was fixed with loctite this week. I should have used it from the beginning but didn’t. It seems a common problem with Campag and BB86…the old rice and pasta strikes again! After the fix, I have not held back and am ringing its neck every ride...The creak played on my mind before but now its getting fun. If I had my Zipp 202s still it would have made it interesting on climbs and I would be in paradise :)

    Scott,

First of all the SL3 S-works and the Fuji are two totally different frames...The SL4 has been described as a great all-rounder and the perfect replacement for the SL3. They also say that the difference between SL3 and SL4 can be noticed in the first few pedal strokes....It is also common talk that the 3 is a better crit bike than the 4. But on the flip side the SL4 is a better open road all round ride...hard to tell but I do like internal cable route.
The SL3 would be my choice if I was just racing crits as it steers so nicely! That matched with a set of tubular 303s would be a lap up the bends. Some people say that the SL3 is hard to get comfortable on, but I did not find such problems. I ran a longer than usual stem because of the amount of hills in Tasmania and found that climbing out of the saddle felt better than in. I am 68 kgs and can pack a quick uphill finish and the SL3 never budged.

    Hi Stu

Just been reading your comments about the Fuji Altamira and the Specialized Tarmac SL3 SWorks. Would love to hear more as I'm looking at both, or a Tarmac SL4 at the moment and hard to decide. SL3 is the LTD model and is about the same price as the Fuji and comes with Zipp 202 so hard to go past a bargain. Would be mostly used for riding the hills around Perth WA so SL3 with Zipps would fly up the hills. Though your Fuji does look great and heard good comments about them. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Scott
