    Reread my post and you'll see it wasn't posed as advice, rather saying this is something that can be done if you don't cross chain. A shorter chain is certainly a tighter chain. The spring in the derailleur applies more force the more it's pulled.

    running your chain a couple of links short changes nothing about chain tension. weight difference is minute. i really don't care how long you've been racing bikes, that says nothing about your mechanical skills. plain and simple...it's not the correct way to size a chain and it's not smart to post advice on a forum like this. you have obviously seen that i'm not the only one that doesn't agree w/ your method, right?
