Looking to vacation in Bend this summer. What are the road cycling conditions like for an 8 year old i.e. roads lightly traveled, bike paths etc.

I hear the mountain biking is good - are the trails suitable for an 8 year old? Any suggested rides, routes etc. appreciated.
