Augusta National Golf Club: Not a proud moment according to Marc LaMont Hill

AOL On - 'Condoleezza Rice Should Be Ashamed Of Herself'

Actually, according to Prof Hill, Condi Rice should be ashamed of herself for accepting membership to an all white-male club which other blacks have been denied.

Should she have rejected the invitation to be the first FEMALE member, who is also black?

Isn't Tiger Woods black, or did the Augusta Golf Club see his Asian side?

Nothing wrong with Augusta National Golf Club having a token African-American/female honorary member. Lots of corporate boards do the same. It's good PR.

Augusta is a private club. They can do what they like with membership.

There are organizations that are on the flip side. All women's gyms. Traditionally black colleges. The Girl and Boy Scouts. The Hibernian Club. The VFW. Various professional organizations.

There are good reasons to limit memberships. Or have a two tiered 'associate member' status.

As long as its a private club and doesn't use any public money, resources, etc... It's their prerogative.

To me, Ms. Rice would be a hypocrit if she turned down membership at Augusta, but then was fine with all women's gyms.

Some people are gonna whine regardless of what they do at Augusta National.

I wonder if he called James Meredith an Uncle Tom?

A pig with lipstick is still a pig however no matter what shade one uses. But if you have an emotional, under-educated, Ready-Fire-Aim public, then they get confused easily and PR become vastly more successful.
If you don't get an answer to your question it doesn't necessary mean you made one or that you deserve one.
