    great quote:

Clinton characterises the core problem as the dominance of “ideology” over “philosophy”. In his book there is nothing wrong with genuinely philosophical debates in American politics. “Everyone should have a political philosophy … it’s good to be a little bit liberal or a little bit conservative, or a lot liberal and a lot conservative. The problems with ideologies is that you’ve got all the answers in advance, so evidence is irrelevant, experience is irrelevant, how the competition is doing is irrelevant.”

That one struck a chord with me as well.

The nut of it: 'You can’t convert the ideologues because they don’t care what the facts are.'

    As in:

Hey, see this tape of Reagan saying we have to raise the debt ceiling?

    It didn't happen.

Do you see the friggin' tape,, hear his voice, watch his lips move?

    No.

Reagan never raised taxes, didn't increase the national debt, never raised the debt ceiling. Never, never, never, no, no, no, quit saying those mean and evil things.

    Your thread title...

"Big dog gets it in one."

    You did that on purpose.

Heck some think, "please come in her" was done on purpose, so don't feel bad.

Well it is a pretty popular chord the minor 7th, appearing in most contemporary music from the Beach Boys to ZZ top.

Not sure exactly what you are referring to really except to suggest that somehow it struck you as "any nondominant seventh chord where the third note is a minor third above the root."

when did Clinton become "The Big Dog" ?

BTW, I agree with this: "The problems with ideologies is that you’ve got all the answers in advance, so evidence is irrelevant, experience is irrelevant, how the competition is doing is irrelevant.”

I guess John Stewart can be credited for the general distribution:

The Daily Show and Colbert on the Return of The Big Dog | Indecision Forever | Political Humor and Satire Blog | 2012 Election | Comedy Central

He's been called that in Dem circles for years. As in 'Has anyone asked the Big Dog what he thinks Edwards should do?' Or 'Hillary needs to listen to the Big Dog and go for the white male redneck vote.' It's kind of spilled out to civilian use recently.
