    Canada withdraws from Kyoto

UDPATE: Canada Govt Formally Withdraws From Kyoto Protocol -

    Canada Withdraws From Kyoto Protocol

Canada believes Kyoto is a failure and does not do enough to address climate change and withdraws. They believe in fact that it's approach will be a hindrance to addressing the concerns of climate change.

Of course, the US never signed on.

    right action, wrong reasons
Whenever the legislators endeavour to take away and destroy the property of the people, or to reduce them to slavery under arbitrary power, they put themselves into a state of war with the people who are thereupon absolved from any further obedience, and are left to the common refuge which God hath provided for all men against force and violence - John Locke

It was very obvious even before we signed that Canada was never going to take Kyoto seriously. This withdrawal just formally recognizes that. I'm no fan of it but I am surprised the withdrawal is a non issue up here.
