I can confirm to you that the "130 times" figure on the USGS website is an estimate that includes all volcanoes – submarine as well as subaerial ... Geoscientists have two methods for estimating the CO2 output of the mid-oceanic ridges. There were estimates for the CO2 output of the mid-oceanic ridges before there were estimates for the global output of subaerial volcanoes.

follies..
"wow. i am so glad you read that." me, too.
Why did I watch that? Usually I find mutual m*****bation more interesting than that.

But Inhofe’s aides eventually rustled up a group of reporters, and the Oklahoman — wearing black snakeskin cowboy boots — held forth from the top of a flight of stairs in the conference media center.
“We in the United States owe it to the 191 countries to be well-informed and know what the intentions of the United States are. The United States is not going to pass a cap and trade,” he said. “It’s just not going to happen.”
A reporter asked: “If there’s a hoax, then who’s putting on this hoax, and what’s the motive?”
“It started in the United Nations,” Inhofe said, “and the ones in the United States who really grab ahold of this is the Hollywood elite.”
One reporter asked Inhofe if he was referring to California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. Another reporter — this one from Der Spiegel — told the senator: “You’re ridiculous.”

Joe Barton the climate scientist... I mean, the politician who resorts to attacking the scientific credentials of another politician. I'm pretty sure a B.S. in industrial engineering from Texas A&M University and M.Sc. in industrial administration from PU a climate scientist does not make.
I have known several scientists from Texas A&M. Mostly Entomologists or Molecular Biologists. I'm pretty sure it's a good institution.
I have great respect for their bonfires.

Texas A&M is fine school but that's not the point. His BS is in industrial engineering... not climate science.
My father was metallurgical engineer and graduated top 5 with an MS in material science from Northwestern University. That doesn't mean he knows jack schmitt about climate science. Coincidentally he also lives in Indiana and has always mocked Purdue University.

As I've mentioned my father is an engineer. One uncle is an industrial engineer and the other is a geologist. Their father/my grandfather was a diesel mechanic. What I know is that excellent engineers know they don't know everything but most engineers aren't excellent. Perhaps that's why some of them go into politics as a profession.

Your irony detector is on the fritz tonight. Re-read the "great respect for their bonfires" comment.
