A conservative, a moderate, and a liberal walk into a bar, and the bartender says...

    "Hi Mitt."
    .
    Stout beers under trees, please.

So, someone open to various ideas is a bad thing?

I would prefer someone ferret through all possibilities to find the best solution than summarily dismissing ideas "just because".

And what about someone who comes up with different "best solutions" depending on their audience?

So, flip-flopping is OK for conservatives now? I seem to remember that being considered a negative in the not too distant past.

Stealing the joke, by the way.

Just because I understand doesn't mean I care!

Still is, at least with me. Well, if one flops beacause, say, new facts come to light. Not to pander to the audience you happen to be standing in front of on the day.

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the difference in switching on an issue is different from switching your core values from progressive to severely conservative to moderate to..... whatever way the wind blows.

You mean like Obama professing to the the "Uniter" while then going to select groups and pitting them against another portion of the population? Not so much for that.

Part of his schtick is to say something that goes against the policy preferences of the audience he is speaking to. He does it all the time. See what he has said to the NAACP for example. We need to do X, but we can't deny that Y is also an issue". That's the typical form.

It's standard rhetorical tactic, and he is smooth when delivering it.
