media bashes Atlanta mom for defending family

Don't you just love how the media condemns a mother for protecting her family? Trigger-Happy, are they serious?

they edited it to remove "trigger happy", evidently because they got a rash of **** about is, as well they should.

Mother of two shoots intruder 5 for 6 times - Topic

MSN's initial headline was "Trigger-happy Atlanta mom shoots intruder in the face 5 times." They later edited the title because too many readers were complaining about it (see teh reader comments on the article)

    http://now.msn.com/atlanta-mom...-in-the-face-5-times

    Read the comments:

"Why do you have to call her trigger happy. A mother with her 9 year old twins, afraid for them and herself against a burglar, a man who does not belong in her home. I say Bad guy 5 bullets and Good mom and twins safe and alive! Now off to the pistol range for some practice. You wasted one bullet by missing him. Bravo Mother of the Year."

"She's not trigger happy, I would not have faulted her if she had reloaded and shot him six more times then maybe this dirtbag would not have survived to possibly succeed on another day when the revolving door prison system puts him back on the street or he sues her for his injuries! MSN just flaunts it's far left stance again. I wish this ******** would visit some of MSN senior staff and editors at home. Maybe they would change their views."

"I dislike the title of this article. How can you call someone "trigger happy" when she was defending the her life and that of her children? Yes one shot may have been sufficient but have you ever heard of adrenalin?"

Yup, no anti-gun agenda there... Roll Eyes

no anti-gun agenda here at all:

Atlanta mom shoots intruder in the face 5 times

This story, shared thousands of times from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution website, has incited some pro-gun tweeps to voice their delight; @Jennecar writes of the story, “why we need guns in our homes!” And @kjclt1 writes, “bet this Atlanta area mother of 2 is glad she had her gun.”
I guess she was just supposed to let the intruder rape her and murder her kids? Well, there would be one fewer "trigger happy mom" if she had.

Here is an article from a more responsible source:

I guess MSN is now in the same category as Right Wing Watch, Media Matters, and Breitbart.

I would make the argument that she was anything but trigger happy for the following: The sources say the burglar was shot in the face and neck area yet was still conscious and able to speak, and he was even able to make his way out of the house and down the street. This tells me that he wasn't shot anywhere too vital for his survival and, in turn, tells me that the woman who shot him fired the gun out of panic and fear. I'm willing to bet she wasn't looking directly at the burglar as many people don't; in such a moment they realize what they're doing is a necessary evil, yet it still frightens them.

    We need to know:

    1. Where she bought the gun?

    2. Has anyone in her family/neighborhood ever been called "crazy" by an ex-spouse?

    3. Was she screaming right-wing talking points when she was pulling the trigger?

    4. Does she pay her fair share?

    5. Why were her kids not at a babysitter's?

    6. Were they on Winter Break, Holiday Break, or Christmas Break from school.

    7. Was she screaming Left-wing talking points when she pulled the trigger?

    8. Do they have more than one gun?

    9. Why she is so selfish?

    10. Why she did not have a cop posted in her living room at all times.

    11. How this happened, since this "never happens in real life, but only in the minds of the paranoid gun toters".

She must have been an off duty cop because we all know a regular civilian couldn't have hit him 5 out of 6 shots. (she needs a more bigger gun)

    Did she have a dog?

Dog chases burglar from Prairie Village home

An attempted burglary in the 2500 block of 77th Street in Prairie Village Thursday night was thwarted by the homeowner’s dog, which chased the culprit back onto the street.

Prairie Village police say the resident was in the home when the burglar made entry through a back door. The homeowner’s dog then began to bark and chased the suspect.

Several police units set up a perimeter in the area to try to catch the suspect, but to no avail. The Olathe Police Department’s K-9 unit responded as well to assist in the search, but was not able to get a track on the suspect.

She obviously need an AK47 or AR15 to defend her home. I mean look at what that burglar made off with due to her only being armed with only a revolver!.

If she'd had a dog same result --- captured (dumb robber) and no $10,000 home repair for bullet damage.

It don't cost $10,000 to patch a hole made by a .22 round and the dogs didn't capture anything but attention.

I'm willing to bet I can post more stories of mom being shot down than gunheads can of mom shooting. Many moms don't want guns around their children.

Edit: let's try to find out how many women are the victims of gun violence versus how many women successfully defend their lives with a gun. Would it be 100 to 1?

I see your jumping to conclusions again ... this is an ever-present signal you feel victimized by a logical answer which hobbles your "quick draw" posturing ... and my friend so early on a Sunday morning too.

The article you are relying on as the facts reports the burglar has five gunshot wounds. If it costs $3K for a 18 mph bicycle fall visit to the emergency ward, you can bet $10,000 to patch up five bullet holes and a few days in the hospital is cheap. And who is likely to be paying this medical bill for s criminal --- the public with their tax dollars. And all this was probably avoidable is she's followed a few trips commonly provided by your local law enforcement staff. Besides no owning a guard dog:

Did the woman have her doors and windows locks? Police commonly suggest this as one of the first prevention tips for homeowners to prevent burglary.

Did the woman have deadbolt locks on her exterior doors? Police frequently suggest this as one of the first prevention tips for homeowners to prevent burglary.

Did the woman have her exterior shrubbery trimmed and maintained so a burglar couldn't used these for covering an illegal entrance? Police normally suggest this as one of the first prevention tips for homeowners to prevent burglary.

Did the woman have a light on inside her home? Police commonly suggest this as one of the first prevention tips for homeowners to prevent burglary.

According to what? If you actually READ the story, you'd know the robber is expected to survive. But yes, please reject reality and substitute your own.

Story doesn't mention a dog so I guess we won't know. But if she did the dog must have been ineffective. Anyway, the women was well within her rights as a human being to protect herself and her family. And one of the tenents of self defense is to keep shooting as long as the assailant is a threat. You antigunners have absolutely no ground to stand on here and to argue otherwise is only revealing how stupid your argument is.

Appears there is a lot not known about this matter. But its obvious to the forum you can't find one of over 7000 post that I say "I oppose the 2nd Amendment."

This demonstrates a complete disrespect for the Leash Law. The fact that this visitor was not caught is irrelevant--his right to reasonably expect that a non-service dog would not be allowed beyond the threshold of the exterior door without a leash has been violated. Without benefit of a trial, this homeowner could only speculate that this wandering sleep walker was not from Publisher's Clearinghouse.

    I think he has a bullet-proof case.

Obviously troutMD is a fake physician. He doesn't even know the well established effects of adrenalin. A major effect is loss of fine motor control. That's why a single shot between the eyes only happens in the movies or on TV. If he were a physician, he'd have done at least one ER rotation and he'd know that even 5 shots does not guarantee a dead burglar or even an incapacitated one.

Most shooters in life and death situations, empty their guns. That's why it took 4 or 5 officers from the NYPD's "special" street crimes unit 41 shots to hit Anadu Dillio only 19 times. But they sure enought did kill him. The Minneapolis PD once expended 40-odd shots killing a german shepard dog in a fenced yard. They finally got him with a 12 ga. shotgun full of 00 Buck.
