    Take me to your leader...

So, with Trump* abdicating the title, who’s your pick for the new “Leader of the Free World”?

    Macron?
    Merkel?
    Trudeau?
    ????
    Putin?

Right now I would say Merkel, though Macron is making a big play to take the lead with recently announced initiatives in France. It will be interesting to see it play out.
Life is short... enjoy the ride.

    Trudeau has my vote

Show my work? Umm..........well, Canada isn't wasting money on "war," the health care system is in good working order, and citizens seem generally well-behaved and content. It's a very large country and he maintains his professional demeanor while dealing with it all. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Good choices. I’d add a dark horse with Doris Leuthard in Switzerland. When U.S. News and World report says you have the best country in the world...

Hahahaha, Trudeau. You have to be kidding. All he can say is what was written for him:

His two answers to ALL questions:

We are growing the middle class (ummm, no he's not)
    Diversity is our strength.

    Some other quotes:

We will grow the economy from the heart out
    The budget will balance itself
If you kill your enemies, they win
Deficits are a way of measuring growth & success a gov't creates
Favourite Baltic Nation: that's not a thing.
The level of admiration for China is that they are a dictatorship & they can turn their economy around on a dime.
Boston Marathon bombing: This happened because somebody felt completely excluded.
I don't watch the news or read newspapers because if something important happens somebody will tell me.

Get to know the guy not just the photo ops that his personal photographer puts out to the media. That man is thick as a brick and an embarrassment to Canada. The only reason he got the job is because of his father.

The health care system is NOT working. People are dying waiting for surgery and in the emergency rooms. There are people who are living in hallways of hospitals because there aren't enough rooms. Those who have money, go to the US for top notch care. Even premiers who are in charge of their health care in the province they govern go to the US.

We are well behaved because we have been taught to not rock the boat. To ask for forgiveness for winning or to be successful.

He does look good on the world stage as long as he doesn't open his mouth.

That's because like his father he is a closet socialist.

    They loved Castro.

On Fidel Castro, Justin Trudeau sounds like his father's son - Politics - CBC News

Castro, Trudeau wrote, had "served his people for almost half a century" and was possessed of "tremendous dedication and love for the Cuban people."

Indeed, so dedicated and loving was Castro that he absolutely refused to let anyone else serve the Cuban people as president for 47 years, from 1959 to 2006, at which point he installed his brother in his place.

Castro, Trudeau ventured, was a "remarkable leader" who "made significant improvements to the education and health care of his island nation" and was rewarded with the "deep and lasting affection" of Cubans.

Trudeau's statement was a statement of condolence. People giving them often don't wish to speak too ill of the dead. I wouldn't read too much into it, especially given that he blew off the funeral.

And said this: Fidel Castro was a dictator, Trudeau says - Politics - CBC News
More Americans wanted Hillary Clinton to be President than wanted Donald Trump.

I find it amusing that politicians are held in such god-like reverence that their every utterance must be a pearl.

On the other hand, a misstatement is leapt upon as proof they are complete idiots and should never have been elected.

At some point we all need to grow up and realize we have elected people with intelligence more or less like our own and judge them on their successes and failures not on the gotchas the media loves to focus on.

If we look at the Trump administration, the media must view it as one of the greatest in American history, every day, some new click bait.

Of course, measured by accomplishments, its a total disaster. But scandal is glorified and accomplishment is rendered insignificant.

That would depend on if you cared about the financial future of your country. You can only spend so much out of the country before you go bankrupt.

So instead for "top notch care" you mean have people dyeing in the streets because they can not afford basic health care. They are not dying waiting for surgary. No they are dyeing from preventable things that basic check up could prevent. Sadly they can not afford those basic check up and instead turn the ER to handle it when they have gotten to far. This increase cost and has worse out comes.

So now care cost more and if you are not rich you can go die in the street.

FYI people are dying in hospitals in the USA waiting of sugary because they can not afford to jump to the front of the line. Instead they keep getting push back farther by line cutters.

Did you forget the part where the Supreme Court unanimously ruled on Jan. 29, 2010 that Khadr's human rights were being violated at Guantanamo Bay? Khadr was a child when captured. It's unheard of to take a child off of a battlefield and torture him for more than a decade.

p.s. Mr. Khadr’s lawyers had filed a $20-million lawsuit against the federal government. Two federal insiders say Ottawa had no choice but to settle with Mr. Khadr because a court case could have cost taxpayers much more than $10.5-million.

NO I said they are dying waiting for surgery.

Canadian Wait Times: While Politicians Dither, Patients Die

    https://www.fraserinstitute.org/site...-in-canada.pdf

Wait times for health care in Canada have lengthened considerably over the
past two decades. Across 12 major medical specialties, the estimated typical
wait time has risen from 9.3 weeks in 1993 to 18.2 weeks in 2013. These
inordinately long waits, among the longest in the developed world, have
become a defining feature of the Canadian healthcare experience.
More than 52,000 Canadians travelled abroad for health care last year, study finds | National Post

The number of Canadian patients who travelled abroad in 2014 to receive non-emergency medical treatment increased 25% from 2013, according to a study conducted by the Fraser Institute, a Canadian independent research and education organization.

The heart and soul of Newfoundland politics is in for repair - and it's not in his home province or even in Canada, for that matter.

Newfoundland Premier Danny Williams is scheduled for heart surgery in the United States, a move that throws into question his province's and his nation's health-care system.
Our health care is free in the respect that it is covered under our income taxes. We only have additional insurance for medications & private hospital rooms. We don't pay anything out of our pockets when we go to the doctor.
