Is NBC Sports my only option to watch the Tour (in US)?

I bought the NBC Sports Gold package last year to watch the Tour. It was OK but my watching time is limited and the coverage was basically a raw stream. I would rather have more of an edited "highlights" version that skips the dull parts and shows me just the key events. Does that exist?

You can most likely find something that way on Youtube.

Won't it be on NBCSN - on cable and satellite?

From what I've seen with other races thus far, it will only be on there the next day, edited.

I could live with that. The issue I have with Sports Gold is its 4+ hours of recorded feed and you have no idea where the important parts of the race are. I end up jumping around to find the start of the big climb, the big breakaway, etc. I would rather have something that edited out all the boring stuff

They have always shown the Tour on NBCSN as well as Gold in the past. Personally I'd rather have the Eurosport feed.

There will likely be post stage coverage and highlights available on YouTube from the Tour itself, Velon, etc. Cyclingnews also typically includes a highlight video in each of its stage summary articles, etc. These won’t be long, but should be easy to find.

In the past CyclingTips has had a pretty good highlight reel. That's another suggestion.

My Gold autorenewed (was debating it before). $50 is too steep and I likely won't get it next year.
However, I like the commercial free coverage. Additionally, there is a strong likelihood that Phil or Paul are not on Gold which is a benefit.

Agree that $50 is a lot (it was $40 last year) I generally only care about the mountain stages and time trials, so it wasn't worth it for me. I tuned off auto-renew in the nick of time. I was surprised that I did not get a bunch of emails trying to get me to sign back up

Yea...I got only one renewal-notice email...and removed my CC from my account with them.

IIRC, only one simultaneous login is allowed. Also, NBC's page is loaded with spyware/trackers and the page breaks if you try to stop it...also NBC designs the page to break if you are on a VPN--even a privacy VPN with intranational gateway.

Eurosport/VPN here as well. Looks like they have some sort of commercial free feed like they did for the Giro. Plus with the Tour, they have the camera feeds from the various motos in the race.
