First Try....I mean Tri - atholon. Race report [o]

I took some pics of my wifes first Triatholon. I thought I would share.
Here she is waiting for the start Number 658

and she is off...into the pool, in 66 degree cloudy weather

In the pool, and soon to be stuck in traffic

Out of the pool and on her way to the bike

on the way out of the transition and to her strongest event

and she is on the bike and ready to pass some of that pool traffic

Flying by the camera....where did she go.....

    Starting the run

and she approaches the finish line

Done, I think she had a strong showing for her first try (tri)

Nice job. Congrats. Great pic of her on the bike, looks like she's motoring.

Congrats to your wife. I was also doing my first triathlon at the SCSC tri. That final climb up the driveway was insulting. ;O)

Thanks, Did you swim the zigzag mess, or in a wave? My wife severly underestimated her swim time, so she was in the zigzag. I estimate that she lost 2 or 3 minutes in the swim behind slower swimmers. I guess being her first tri, these are things you learn. She won't be making that mistake again.
Other than the swim, everything went smooth.
    How did yours go?

I was lucky enough to have a wave to swim in, wave 9. I tried to stay out of the zigzag because I knew it would be an issue with traffic. Most tris have groups start by age group, so there's no question when you'll be hitting the water; it's the same for everyone. But of course that wouldn't have worked here. ;O)

My first tri went well. I was looking to survive, and I most certainly did. I think I may wait for a second tri until next year, and concentrate on a 100 mile bike ride (a.k.a. century) later this year. I could use some time to focus on one event instead of trying to juggle three. Has your wife talked you into a tri yet? I'm breaking my boyfriend down, but he's not much of a water person so that's a tough sell with him. Maybe I'll take him out for that century that I'm dreaming about right now... I hope your wife has a great rest-of-the-season!

No tri for me, I ran for many years, I have raced all sorts of bikes over the last 30 years, but.... No swimming for me, and I don't have the time or motivation to start swimming now.
We did a mountain bike race together earlier in the year. I posted a race report on MTBR.

We are going to ride a couple of centuries later in the year as well. Which one are you doing?
We do group rides every weekend, if you are looking for a group, let me know. Where are you at? The group starts in Brookeville.
