Garmine Edge 500 or Forerunner 210
I am looking to incorporate HR based training into my workouts. I was wondering if anyone has tried to use the Forrunner 210 for that. I initially thought the 110 would work but it doesn't have a current speed display so I began looking at the 210. What are the pros/cons of the 210 over a dedicated cycling unit like the 500?
This is mostly about the form factor. The Edge 500 is a great form factor for cycling. It is a nice size, and a good compromise between screen size and looking reasonable on your bike. If you want to track your runs/hikes too, the watch form factor is better but it will look goofy when mounted on the bike. Other than form factor, there's enough crossover in terms of feature set that one can be used for the other activity, but it makes sense to choose the one that is more optimized for the activity that you do most. If you a triathlete then you'll be looking for waterproofness too! Probably the best guide on the web for picking between these Garmin devices is DC Rainmaker's blog. Start with this page, and then check out the list of devices on the right hand column.
