Fascinating mystery (suspect high end) steel frame with longitudinal ridges?

I have recently acquired this bike built by Albuch Kotter (German). I suspect the bike was built in the late 80's Note the Cinelli spoiler BB, racing number braze-on, Campag dropouts. The seatpost is 27.2mm. The frame tubes have external longitudinal ridges, which I can't find the origin of. What type of tubing is this? Any thoughts about the bike would be appreciated!

Could this have started out as a regular tubeset and then he took off material in strips to lighten the frame?

No, definately ridges in the steel itself. I have managed to figure it out : the tubing is without a doubt Oria GM 0.0. It was used by a few Italian builders/ manufacturers in the late 80's, early 90's (Pinarello, F.Moser, Coppi, Bianchi), including a TdF winning frameset used by Indurain. Apparently quite rare.
