hi folks, it seems the best place to carry a gun is in your jersey pocket , I live in the UK and guns are largley illegal to carry. Different parts of the world have differing ways , I was just qurious as to how many gun deaths different countries have and came across this table http://www.who.int/violence_injury_p...t/en/annex.pdf

You can lead a horse to water........

Actually, it was a true story that did include me. 4 dogs and a nice sized bite on the back of my calf. (Sorry, I didn't get pictures at the time, I was too busy using my pen and paper to write down descpriptions of the mishap.)

No one has yet to post a cyclist with gun gone awry story.

Why?

Could it be that it doesn't exist?

Could it be that responsible gun owners don't go 'looking' to unholster their weapon for the heck of it?

Could it be that responsible people would only use a gun as a last resort to protect oneself as the law intends?

I just don't get the complaints about it.

Maybe when someone posts the MAD GUN cyclist story that I am waiting for, I can begin to see the other side of it.

Well, it's pretty likely that at least one of the 22,000 or so accidental Plaxico-style accidents involved a bicycle, but that will never happen to you, right??

Seriously, convince me that all gun-carrying cyclists are responsible gun owners and I'll see the other side of it too, but I'm pretty sure you can't do that. As if being a road biker makes one less prone to the inconsiderate use of deadly force than anyone else.

And did I really read a few posts ago that someone wishes they had had a gun so they could have reached into their saddlebag/jersey pocket, pulled it out, disengaged the safety and shot some mean dogs WHILE riding?? Tell me I hallucinated that particular stray-bullet nightmare...or do they teach that technique in gun school?

I think we've done all we can do here. If it's legal where you live and you've got the right papers, pack heat while you ride if your best judgment suggests that you do so; the rest of us will never understand and I don't think there's any new territory to cover.

This is not about bicycles..It is about the quandary these people face every minute of the day. How do I take shower and be close to my gun, or use the restroom, or should my gun be under the pillow or on the nightstand , or when I watch tv a gun on the coffee table or on the end table or BOTH,,should I have one in the garage or just use one from in the house? what kind of holster should I use while mowing the yard or taking out the trash. and then if I can't decide any of these things and want to bore someone with my dilemma they better be supportive or I'll call them a pinko librul america hating commie and make sure they know I could take them out in a second if I wanted to...and meggadittos

Go back and read the post I was replying to. He wasn't asking for "real" personal experiences, just examples of possible scenarios. Go back and read my previous posts. I've made it quite clear that I don't carry because I've never felt the need, which does rather imply that I've never needed one, doesn't it? Read first, then reply.

Problem solved a century ago...

For your next bicycle/hunting trip or just a spin to the range for a little practice, this rig will get the job done.

This photo was taken at the Bicycle Museum of American in New Bremen, OH. It's a fantastic museum with every type of bike your can imagine. I highly recommend visiting it. I've been there twice and look forward to going back again.

NRA magazine sells a shirt (much like the wicking type cycling jersey, same material) that fits real tight, (you can wear it under another shirt), has pockets built in under the arms that is made for carrying a concealed weapon.
